ParticipantI love OUAT, but when I see funny dialogues on how it should have been and then, I remember how the scene actually went 😆
Mary Margaret: The ink! The ink is IN the parchment.
Mulan: No, really?
Mulan: Because there are so many other writing materials available in this jail cell.
Mulan: I thought Rumplestiltskin must have written all over the entire parchment in perfect script with thin air. Or urine. Or sheer willpower. Who ever could have guessed that the inkpot was empty because he had used it.
Mary Margaret: I’m sensing some attitude, young lady.
Mulan: Gee, maybe that’s what he wrote with.😆 And then, Emma’s surprised look when she realized that Rumpelstiltskin wrote her name using the squid ink, and moments earlier, Mulan found the empty bottle where the squid ink would have been. Probably the silliest moment of the entire episode.

ParticipantYeah… that was all a little silly…
Even the next scene (which I found humerous, but also silly) when Snow said “I used to watch Cora do spells, and the spells were in the spellbook”, Emma was having some Mulan type attitude (as per your typing above) with the whole “Um, spells in a spellbook, no crap?!” haha.
I do think Emma was just too shocked that her name was written again and again and again and again….
And plus, if they had been a bit quicker, Snow wouldn’t have been able to perfectly save the day right in the exact right moment by shooting her arrow through the compass right before Cora and Hook jumped… right?
HOWEVER…
I know the Once Podcast kind of dissed the whole “first it was the quill, now it’s suddenly NOT the quill and it is the ink”… and I just rewatched the Cinderella episode (when they trap Rumpel in the cell) and they really just say “He needs to sign with this quill”… so if the quill really had a spell, why would he have to sign? I think their choice of words in this episode is resonate of the fact that there was something more to the quill.
PLUS the ink they found (Emma, Emma Emma Emma) wasn’t used on Cora to make her powerless but was instead used to break down the door… so if it really was the quill in the first place and the ink had nothing to do with it – that is also fine, because Rumpel was just trying to get them to find the ink. That was the whole point of him leaving the parchment with Emma’s name on it.
Anyways… interesting stuff – I wonder if this is the end of the whole ink/quill thing or not?
I want to see Ariel. So it better not be.
And Ursella. Ursella is going to be epic.December 12, 2012 at 4:35 pm #164700obisgirl

ParticipantI never read the scene that they didn’t figure out that the squid ink was used to write Emma’s name. I think that was a given. But it was used up. They couldn’t use the ink anymore. It’s on the parchment… nothing to be done.
It wasn’t until Snow remembered she saw Cora actually lift spells from the spell book.. right off the page.. that she made the connection that the same could be done with the squid ink.
And Emma’s line about it being squid ink I’m going to say is PURELY for the audience’s sake. lol
