Don’t forget about Raphael Sbarge. He was actually a series regular back in Season 1, but got less and less screentime as the Season went on. Then he got demoted in Season 2. Though at least they never killed off Archie or Ruby, and they have both returned as guest stars since their demotions.

Your usage of a Sokka gif makes me feel a bit better about all of this.

Ironically, it’s the ones who have been killed or cut that have avoided the worst character assassination. I’d be very surprised if at least three of the regulars (RC, GG, JMo) do not have a strained relationship with A&E by this point.

“I felt like it was an abrupt end; I didn’t feel the character had any development this year and wasn’t really written for,” the actor tells THR.

Sean M. basically just said what I think MRJ probably felt but never really said.

As a writer, what do you hope happens next for Regina?

As a writer, you hope the Regina character stays good and stays a hero and doesn’t let this tragedy turn her back to a dark place. But as a viewer of the show, maybe Regina going dark and being evil again gives them their Evil Queen back — she’s an iconic character on the show and to be honest with you, I leave the speculation to the fans and the writing to the writers.

Sean keeps insisting in every interview that the actors have absolutely no say in the writing of the show or the way characters behave. It makes me wonder if the actors HAVE tried to suggest something, or complained, and were shot down.

I don’t think this is entirely true. Didn’t Lana say back in S2 that she fought with the writers about Regina and Henry’s relationship? I got the impression that her efforts succeeded and got them to portray it differently.

Actually, yes. Now that you mention it, she did. So….maybe there was slightly more contribution or at least actor-insight and now there’s not? It’s just a strange thing for Sean to keep emphasizing in his interviews (unless it’s just him who didn’t get to speak up and discuss his character)

The only way I can see this “twist” paying off now for Regina is if SwanQueen happens or if she decides she’s better off without romance. However…I’m not sure what her “endgame” is now. Do Zelena and Regina become spinster sisters who own lots of cats?

Yeah, if they wanted SQ to happen, they would have left Hook dead in the Underworld. I still doubt SQ will ever become canon, regardless.

Yup. The show “got” their LGBT ‘ship. The writers can check mark that off and move on.

Besides, even if Robin and Hook both stayed dead for SQ to happen, would that honestly be that much better of a reason to kill Robin off? Both OQers and CSers would call foul that they killed both characters for a ship, and we’d never hear the end of it. Either option would have led to disastrous results.
