I believe Rumple, Regina, and Hook will not totally become buddies, but be frienemys (did I spell that right?) . They will continue to wax and wane thru their good and dark sides and will also follow the “we clash amongst each other but we all fight the bad guys together” code.
The quest to rescue Henry unites them because of what he means to each of them and that will be a bond in the back of their minds for everybody, including Emma, Snow and Charming, going forward as season 3 progresses.
However, that doesn’t mean there won’t be on and off fireworks between them, magic and all.

I’m really curious about Rumple’s undoing though, as A & E said he’s going to learn the hard way what that is. I don’t think it’s death but can it really be losing his curse? Can they take away his powers in season 3? I mean he’s one of the big driving forces of the show and without his powers….what’s he going to do for the rest of the series? His whole primary struggle is choosing power or love.
Unless he still can do magic even after he’s not the Dark One anymore..why does everyone insist on thinking he will lose his dark powers? that wouldn’t be HIS undoing, but his dagger’s. if he will learn “the hard way” and if he specifically went on that ship expecting to die for henry in honor of Bae, the hard way does NOT sound like losing powers. that’s an easy thing to lose rather than life. I’m thinking his “undoing” is a fate worse than death.
he said in “the queen is dead” that he is “full of love” THIS may be the thing they will undo for him. his humanity, maybe. may be they will do a Peeta from the hunger games, where he becomes someone wanting to kill everyone he once lovedJune 6, 2013 at 9:03 pm #197445JosephineParticipant@RumbelleDearie wrote:

Unless he still can do magic even after he’s not the Dark One anymore..I wouldn’t count Rumple out without his powers. He’s pretty wicked with his cane (and I won’t make a joke even though I desperately want to. 😆 ). This is the man who was able to overtake Moe, a much bigger man, and August, a much younger man, even before he even had access to magic. For a small guy with a limp, he sure is physically powerful. 😎
I actually think it would be fascinating to see Rumple without his powers. It’s been over 300 years since he was a normal man. It would be great to see him navigating life post-curse. Plus, you have to admit, he’s probably gained so much knowledge in all those years of living that he’d be like a walking encyclopedia even without magic. I do wonder if he’d still have some form of magic after the curse is lifted. With all those years of living that I mentioned, he’s had to learn some other forms of magic that aren’t dependent on his Dark One powers. An example is his seer powers. He was given them by the seer, although maybe he does need to be the DO to access them, we don’t know. I just think it would be great to see him trying to live without them. I do think the “good guys” depend on his knowledge a lot more than they should from an “enemy” and would probably continue to do so even after his curse was lifted.
I know one thing, I’d never want to play a game of chess against Rumple. I’d probably lose in two moves. 😀

Regina went 29 years with no magic…granted she still had a lot of power over the town with everyone dong what she wanted at least until Emma showed up. Rumple had his memories back once Emma told him her name, so he was without magic for the entire first season and was able to navigate life pretty well I’d say.
June 7, 2013 at 12:15 am #197453RumplesGirlKeymasterRegina could not create magic, but magical items retained their magic in our world even during the Curse–like Graham’s heart and Jefferson’s hat once Regina added some magical trinkets to it. She was not living in a world totally devoid of magic. So yes, it was significantly weakened, but at the same she wasn’t totally without magic. Also, she had no reason to want to create magic–she thought she had won. Once magic came back, she didn’t hesitate to try and use it.
Rumple, I’ll grant he didn’t seem to be using any kind of magic in S1. But he still knew it’s power–the first thing he does it bring magic because it’s power and he thinks he needs it. As soon as he realizes the Curse is about to be broken, he doesn’t prepare to leave SB, he brings magic.
So their addiction to magic, in my eyes, is still just as strong."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"June 7, 2013 at 12:37 am #197454KebParticipantI think, too, that for Rumple, the Mr. Gold side helped him deal with not having magic. I think that’s why he approached August slightly more sanely than Neal–once he had magic back, he leaned more toward his Rumple side again.
