She doesn’t have the streak in the scene of Skin Deep where she’s taunting Rumple about Belle’s “death.” I checked. It’s mostly up with a small, long ponytail down. No color. It’s all up (in a similar style) in Ariel.

We had it confirmed I blieve that this episode was somewhere between Snow Falls and 7:15 but we do not know exactly when. Perhaps Ariel helped Snow as well to really see her feelings for charming.

Evidence for an age of 200:
–14 yo Bae falls through a portal into our world (and Adam has said repeatedly that the Darlings are in our world) sometime after Big Ben exists. It was built in 1858, so, assuming there is no time travel in the Onceverse and time moves the same in FTL and our world, that means Bae could not have been born before 1844.
–Pan asks in 311, “What are you now, a couple hundred?” We know time DOES move differently in Neverland, or rather, doesn’t really move at all, so Pan’s sense of time is probably off. However, that suggests that perhaps our imp is less than 300.Other internal evidence:
–Bae says in 215 that he’d be a couple hundred years old if he hadn’t gone to Neverland. But again, time is weird there and probably skews the senses. (This may also excuse Hook and Tink’s scene in 311 a bit–Hook’s acting like Bae just left the ship and Tink’s acting like it’s been years and years since she lost her wings and the two don’t quite compute with all the rest of the details, but with a weird time thing, it might feel that way to both of them.)
–Gold is definitely the Dark One when Geppetto, a man of at least 60, is a boy of seven or eight. So the events surrounding Bae’s disappearance had to happen at least 60 years before the Curse…which was cast 28 years before October 22nd 2011. Add 15 years for Bae’s growth and at least 30 for how old he was when Bae was born (I’ve estimated about 35 on my timeline)…and yeah.
–200 is actually a pretty neat timeline. If you assume he’s 200 at the time Emma comes to Storybrooke instead of 300, and adjust everything before Jiminy’s birth (at which point I started counting back from the Curse rather than forward from Rumple’s birth) to match, the dates line up with external markers beautifully. But given the number of times we’ve heard that Rumple is 300, it’s hard to accept that 200 is more accurate to the timeline they’ve constructed. I dunno. What do you all think? What am I missing?

March 20, 2014 at 7:15 am #254324MyrilParticipant@Keb: The information you put together makes 200 years look plausible.
What is frustrating for the fans is a nice or practical thing for writers. The phrase “a couple of hundred years” is a rather vague information, could be somewhat more than one hundred, could be two, maybe three, maybe more… it says the person is older, likely older than normal people would become, but not exactly how old, nor does the information nail the timeline in a way you have to absolutely stick to it. It leaves time open to play with. Rule of writing: Don’t give (precise) information unless you absolutely have to – that goes for time and date as much as for places. Fairy tales are a prominent example of tales keeping details like time, date, places vague – which makes them so successful over ages.
I am sure, that they have a timeline in their writers room, or maybe should call it more a sequence of order of events, because I doubt that they have nailed it all as a detailed chronology of OUaT history. 200 or 300 year – that is not so important at the moment, it’s likely something in between. Writers need a certain degree of flexibility to add new levels to the stories. And 10 or 5 years – that might be important for teenagers, but at some point the difference can get a bit blurry 😉
Just noting: Interesting how we obsess about the timeline while fairy tales are such time-less things. Last time I had that many discussions about a timeline was with Star Trek (it could drive nuts, even more so thanks to writers not paying attention to Stardates, so of course there had to be some calendar and time measuring reforms in the Federation besides some wacky time phenomenon explanations, and thanks to Abrams most of it now has changed anyway, LOL)
¯\_(?????? ?)_/¯
March 20, 2014 at 7:43 am #254329PriceofMagicParticipantI believe Rumple to be about 150- 200 years old rather than 300.
The Darling bros said Wendy had been Pan’s prisoner for over a century. (Not nearly 2 centuries, which suggests her years of imprisonment is closer to 100 rather than 200)
Bae met the Darlings 6 months after he went through the portal (The second half of the crocodile takes place close to SSTTR/ASOTM since Hook picks Bae up out of the water and Felix said Hook was new to Neverland hence warning him about Pan’s shadow ripping).
Bae was 14/15 when he went through the portal since Rumple became the dark one on Bae’s 14th birthday to stop him being taken to the ogre war. Rumple would’ve aged normally before that.
It all adds up that Rumple can’t be more than 200 at most.
Also some other timeline theories I have regarding the ogre wars:
Since Pan didn’t get his first lost boys until Nasty habits which is set after Desperate Souls and before The Return, during which Rumple stopped the ogre war, we know children were being enlisted in the war with the age being lowered again to 14 in Desperate souls. Theoretically, some of the older lost boys such as Felix who are well over the age of 14, may have had to fight in the ogre wars before they ended up in Neverland.
Granny said her brothers fought in the second ogre war. Unless Granny is considerably older than she looks, this suggests that the ogre war Bae was being enlisted to is the same ogre war that Rumple ran away from 14 years earlier.
Also, Granny looks to be around the same age as Geppetto. Granny could’ve been a small girl around the time her brothers fought in the second ogre war, meaning Geppetto would have likely been a young boy. Jiminy on the other hand was a grown man when he met young Geppetto in That Still Small Voice. Jiminy may have complained about living with his parents and travelling around but it is highly likely that the normadic lifestyle saved Jiminy from being enlisted since he couldn’t be easily tracked down to a specific residence. My theory is a second ogre war was happening around the time of That Still Small Voice.
Belle’s town was having trouble with ogres which suggests there was a third maybe fourth ogre war going on around the time of Skin Deep and that once again Rumple put a stop to it.
All magic comes with a price!

August 28, 2014 at 8:41 am #281103KebParticipantApologies for the long delay in updating the timeline…RL hit me hard over this summer, between having to move and then learning I have to move AGAIN in a couple of months and change all my plans for the next year or so…
But I have now updated the timelines through episode 315 and have hopes I’ll get the rest of S3 done before S4 starts. Of course, my move back to the states is the same week as the premiere…so who knows when I’ll get on S4.
