I don’t really think of Tink as a “good fairy.” Those are usually the sort who grant wishes and protect people- like Blue or the Fairy Godmother. Tink’s not like that- she’s out for herself. I think Never fairies are a different sort than the fairies we’ve met in the Enchanted Forest. From Tink’s casting description, it sounds as if we are getting a traditional Tink- at least personality wise…fits what we usually know of her pretty well.
I agree.

She’s so small that when she is one thing (good or bad) is only that emotion. So when she’s misbehaving, she is fully bad because she can’t hold more than one emotion. Something to consider.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"July 26, 2013 at 4:14 pm #202189PriceofMagicParticipantI’m not keen on the Tink is Belle’s mother theory. IMO it kind of takes away from Belle’s character. Instead of everything that happened to Belle being because of her choices, to help people, to see the good in others even if they don’t believe there’s good in them, etc, it would all boil down to Belle has secretly had magic all along and didn’t know it because she’s half-fairy.
I like the fact that Belle is just a normal non-magic girl who just so happens to have true love with the current dark one because she chose to see the good in him and not to give up on him. He fell in love with her because she didn’t see him as a monster, not because he could sense magic in her.
As for why Rumple left Belle with the cloaking spell instead of giving it to a magic user, I have a theory. Rumple wanted Belle to stay behind because he didn’t want her to see him die, because he wanted to protect her and because he didn’t want her to see him as “the dark one”. Rumple knew Belle wouldn’t just stay behind because he asked her to, she needed a reason to stay so he gave her one. He played on her good nature of wanting to help people and protect those in need, it was how they met- Belle sacrificed herself to save her people from the ogres, Rumple told her that in his deathbed phone conversation “You are a hero who helped your people”, Rumple knew Belle would stay behind to protect the rest of the town because that’s her nature.

That doesn’t mean Belle’s mother isn’t someone important. It’s strange that there hasn’t been one mention of her at all. Even in season one there was a mention by Leopold of seeing Snow’s mother in her. But even Maurice hasn’t said anything. Not even when he tried to send her over the line. I expected a comment like, “You’re mother would have expect more from you.” But nothing. Not even a “You remind me so much of your mother.” That’s just strange they’ve been so mum on the “mum” issue.

July 26, 2013 at 5:23 pm #202209JosephineParticipantEven if she died in childbirth, you’d have thought they’d at least have made a passing reference. But, please, I hope to goodness her mother never made any kind of deal with Rumple. Gah, that will really rile up people and get a weird skew on Rumbelle.
When Rumbelle have babies Rumple and Moe can be nervous because Belle’s mother died in childbirth 😀 How’s that for a cracktheory?

July 26, 2013 at 5:38 pm #202214PriceofMagicParticipantIf Belle’s mother died over 20 years ago (30 if Belle’s age is the same as EdR) then she may not be mentioned in present day but probably will in flashback. Snow’s mom was mentioned in flashback because her death would’ve been more recent at the time.
I don’t think Belle’s mom made any deal with Rumple, Maurice wouldn’t have allowed it, and I doubt they would’ve had Belle’s mom going from rags to riches because of a deal because that is too close to Cinderella’s and the Miller’s Daughter stories. I get the feeling that the only reason Maurice called upon Rumple in Skin Deep was as a last resort and he was ready to turn Rumple away to protect Belle. Belle knew that Rumple was their last hope so she agreed to his terms to protect her people.

Keeper of FelixJuly 26, 2013 at 5:50 pm #202216kfchimeraParticipantwell those aren’t crack enough for me, dying in childbirth? Pshhhaw. After Tinka-momma, we would need something grander, like, Belle’s mom was Glinda from Oz or something like that all full of conspiracy and oddness. OMG….Victor’s mother was never shown aside from the watch, and no reference to Belle’s mother –what if they’re half siblings–now that’s the kind of weird stuff we’re supposed to generate!

July 26, 2013 at 6:08 pm #202220SlurpeezParticipantEveryone is entitled to accept or reject crackpot theorizing. Part of me loves coming up with connections (even if they turn out to be wrong). Well, here is another one. It’s very interesting to note that Maurice/Moe French could make an appearance early in S3 around the same episode as Tinkerbell. Moe’s truck, the Game of Thorns van, has been seen around Steveston,BC (aka SB). Of course, it could be completely isolated from Tinkerbell in NL, but it’s still a fun conjecture.
