Just re-watched “Pilot” and “The Thing You Love Most” to review the basic info of the curse b4 2×17.And something struck me.When Emma,Graham,and Regina were in Henry’s room,trying to locate Henry,the convo between Emma and Graham goes kind of like this:
Emma:Smart kid.He cleared his inbox,but I’m smart too.Here’s a little hard drive recovery device I like to use.
Graham:I’m a little more old-fashioned.You know,pounding on the pavementlooking for help,information,knocking on doors…
Emma:You’re on salary.I get paid for delivery.Pounding the pavement is a luxury I don’t have.The thing that caught my ear was the phrase”pounding on the pavement.”In a short Sherlock Holmes story called”The Read-Headed League,”Sherlock Holmes is trying to locate a young criminal and he beats the pavement with his cane outside a pawnbroker’s shop to determine whether or not there is a cellar beneath that the man could be utilizing.

This may be a bit of a stretch but perhaps the huntman killing the deer was another reference. He could have been hunting any animal, such as a rabbit, but he was stalking a deer. He was a deer stalker. Sherlock Holmes wore a deer stalker hat.
Of course it could have just been showing that Bambi is dead in the Onceverse.
