I like your idea of water connecting Enchanted Forest and Neverland Phee, we have seen a similar thing in the waters of Lake Nostos connecting Enchanted Forest and Storybrooke.
So true, I hadn’t even thought of that connection! Rumple used that well to bring back magic, so the Lake Nostos water had to have been accessible from our world’s side, but then it was also present in FTL too. It’s an already established rule, so why couldn’t Altantica exist in a similar form.
Underwater passageways between worlds? Why not? 😉

I’ve also considered that, and wondered if perhaps the underwater world is sort of a bridge between worlds, which is why Hook could travel through it to get from FTL to Neverland. If so, then there could be one realm for mermaids which is accessible from either side, so to speak. I think it’d complicate matters from a storytelling standpoint if they had Neverland mermaids and then somewhere else, is some other, completely different realm, have completely different mermaids. It means they’d have to establish two separate underwater realms and convince the audience that they weren’t one and the same. Given that it’s such a unique sort of environment, I think they’d wanna stick to just having one mermaid realm. And I think that the fact that there is actually a Mermaid Lagoon in Neverland is too fun of an idea for them to pass up, so they’ll have to use it. And mermaids have already been hinted at in FTL. So I think they’ll all be connected somehow.
The one thing that complicates the matter is that nobody can age in Neverland, which I assume would include the mermaids. I always assumed that if they do introduce Ariel, it will be via a flashback connecting to what Regina mentioned. That and the squid ink are still unanswered stories I would love to see. I doubt those mentions were just planted there with no further purpose in mind. Adam and Eddy have repeatedly said that they have a plan for Ariel, and they’ve hinted before that those mentions in previous episodes could connect to said plan. Though, the portal to Neverland that Hook created could have possibly brought a bunch of mermaids along for the ride, hence their existence in Neverland. Still not personally on board for Ariel being in Neverland, but all we can do now is individually theorize and wait to see the final results.
Well in the originally story of the little mermaid, the merpeople lived to be centuries old. I believe it was like 300 possibly. It kind of connects if they regularly travel to Neverland and it’s anti-aging magical atmosphere keeps them young and alive.

I don’t know. Because of the Disney version, Ariel is normally linked to Eric. If they’re going to start messing with couples like that, why not say that whilst visiting the far off land of Agrabah, an arabian princess (Jasmine) fell in love with Hook.
Jasmine is always linked with Aladdin in the same way Ariel is always linked with Eric.
Speaking of Disney’s Ariel and Eric, wouldn’t that whole relationship be illegal, considering she’s 16 and he’s just turned 21?

However once upon a time twists everything, and Hook and Eric have similarities (such as both sailing) that could make it plausible if he was not.
If you are under over 16 you can marry with your parents’ permission, based on a quick google search, however the film was released in 1989, so the laws may have been different then too 🙂Proud Keeper of the Dinglehoppers

Indeed they could…
Barrie states in the novel that “Hook was not his true name. To reveal who he really was would even at this date set the country in a blaze.”
…maybe he was born royalty, until some scandal saw his family lose everything, and he ended up turning to piracy to survive.

April 3, 2013 at 8:33 pm #184276PriceofMagicParticipantI like that theory too. If they made Hook and Eric the same person then I’d have no problems with a Hook/Ariel romance. However, if Eric does exist separately in the Onceverse then Ariel should be with him.

Keeper of FelixApril 4, 2013 at 4:18 am #184349PheeParticipantIf Eric is someone separate, then yes, they’d have to put him with Ariel. The only reason that prince exists is so Ariel has someone to fall in love with, he’s not really the primary character in the story with a whole individual story and history fleshed out. Which means that for Once, they’d need to make something up for him. Which means they could easily make him Hook, an already established character whose history they want to delve into in future eps.
