What if Keck was wrong about the wedding being at the end of the season? Instead of Eriel getting married at the end of the season, they get married NOW on Hook’s ship? A sign that he’s moving on from whatever childhood trauma he suffered at the hands of a mermaid?
Hmmmmm. Maybe, but why? What connection do Hook and Ariel have, or for that matter Eric and Hook? We need to be on the lookout whether Gil McKinney is returning to Vancouver.

My only reasoning for WHY is that SB doesn’t seem to have a lot of religious ministers/rabbis/ imans/ect in town. And he is a pirate captain. Like Jack Sparrow says, “I could perform a marry-age right here on this deck. Right….now” (bless)

"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"January 28, 2014 at 12:49 am #241121awoovoParticipantI love this post, and I think this is how the episode will play out.
In 3A during Good Form we saw Killian Jones, a man with a moral code became a pirate after the death of this brother and mate, Liam, in the flashbacks. During the present day time we saw Killian become a man of honor again when saving David with the water of Neverland. This was done to show the parallel of how the past was repeating itself in the future. This is Adam and Eddy’s MO to show character and plot development as well as two characters starting to form a bond. Think about it. Killian and Liam were brothers, mates and crew members. On there adventure to Neverland poor Liam was hurt by dreamshade. Killian learned to what lengths he would go to save family. He would so anything. The same goes for his adventure with David. Killian fought with David and turned down Pan’s deal in order to save him. David learned to what lengths Hook would go to save a person. That he really was a good man. In that bonding they became friends and “brothers”.
3B is giving us The Jolly Roger. An episode we are more that certain is a Hook centric episode as well. One that may be involving Henry. The reason I saw that is because of the BTS pics of Henry and Killian on the beach. . It is clear to see in Henry’s hands a sextant, a book about knots and a rope. (x) This seems to be a Killian and Henry trip were Killian teachesHenry everything he learned to be a good pirate. This is the time for Killian and Henry to bond. Even become a father life figure for Henry.
With the knowledge of Blackbeard to appear in a Hook episode there is a good chance that we will see Killian learn how not to only be a Captain but a pirate. Killian would have needed to learn certain traits to be respected by his crew and other pirates in order to survive. Blackbeard may have been the one to teach him. Killian and Blackbeard would have bonded in a father son type fashion.
The other thing to note is Killian is bonding with David in a “brother/mate” way and with Henry in a “father like” way. These are the important men in Emma’s life. If Killian were to get anywhere with Emma he would need to create that bond with David and Henry. The bonding is shown in Hook centric episodes that did and will consist of Hook bonding with men of importance in his life.
If Killian were just a villain, had no importance in the story and not Emma’s true love there would be NO NEED for such episodes. Why would it matter if he bonded with David and Henry the way he did with Liam and Blackbeard? Adam, Eddy and the writers are blatantly showing us how important Killian is.

January 28, 2014 at 2:59 am #241133sweetgrassParticipantI am very curious to se how they work Hook’s backstory. In the book, Hook was Blackbeard boatswain and that is how he learned about pirating. It would be a nice call back to the source material. There is a new movie about Peter Pan with Hugh Jackman as the villainous Blackbeard and garrett hedlund as the young hero Hook.
For Once , the only problem is that hook event straight from idealist Navy lieutenant to pirate captain. Maybe when his father first left he was a cabin boy for Blackbeard. My head cannon is that freshly minted pirate captain Killian jones was mentored by a Pirate Queen who taught him many things including physical pleasures of life, drink and women. It would also explain why Hook is very comfortable with having strong women in command. Also with jones as his surname, he must be related to Davy.
Keeper of Hook and Emma's smoldering first kiss, a certain Pirate's sauciness, the Evil Queen's snarkiness, Grumpy's gruffness and a drop of true love to make it all go down smooth.

I didn’t know that! Good info to have

Interesting. I agree that Hook needs some sort of mentor when his pirating days began. He was too straight laced in the beginning.

Interesting post. I do think there will be a lot of parallels, and in my head there will be about 3, all of them father/son type relationships or mentor/mentee relationships
1) Hook and Blackbeard
2) Hook and Henry (I suspect they are on that beach hiding from Wicked in 3×16)
3) Hook and Bae. We’ve seen the father/son dynamic before with Hook, in 222. It will hopefully resurface in some form.

I didn’t know that either! So perhaps Blackbeard really is Blackbeard, not his actual father. Earlier in the chat, Stelio suggested that we might see a take on “Treasure Island” by Robert Louis Stevenson, in which the cabin boy, Jim Hawkins, is befriended by the galley chef, who turns out to be none other than the dreaded pirate Long John Silver. While I like this notion of Killian Jones having once been like Jim Hawkins and Blackbeard be a stand-in for Long John Silver, I was a bit opposed to the idea, not because I don’t like it, but because of his own canonical history.
Based on 3×5, Killian Jones appeared to be an upright young man, around age 20, who was first mate of the royal navy under the command of his respectable older brother, Captain Liam Jones. Despite being fatherless, Killian had the benefit of being mentored by Liam, who as we know, was no pirate. So, that would mean any secondary pirate mentor figure who came into Killian Jones’ life would have to have done so after he went rogue, and when he was older than the age of a cabin boy. Pirate Jones might’ve come across Blackbeard either as a foe or a mentor. It remains to be seen whether Hook and Blackbeard are opposed against one another or allied together.
In the fourth movie installment of POTC, On Stranger Tides, Jack Sparrow becomes part of the crew of Blackbeard’s ship The Queen Anne Revenge. Jack and Blackbeard are at odds when Jack tries to commit mutiny. They end up searching for the Fountain of Youth, which requires the tear of a mermaid. Since we know Ariel is returning for this episode, it makes me wonder if the inspiration for The Jolly Roger isn’t in someway inspired by that film. Blackbeard, mermaids pirates. It kind of fits what we know so far about 3×17.

January 28, 2014 at 9:59 am #241184Marty McFlyParticipantOh, good grief another abandoned child I hope not :
Well, Hook told Baelfire he knew what it felt like to be abandoned because his father had left him. We’ll soon see if Hook was telling the truth or not. I think he was, even if his intention was just to wheedle information out of Baelfire about how to kill Rumplestiltskin.
does anyone consider that fact that maybe Hook was lying to Bae, so that Bae should open up and tell him what he wanted to know…. you know, how to KILL RUMPELSTILTSKIN?
even while watching this episode I was doubtful that Hook was actually telling a true story… it was obviously a coax.January 28, 2014 at 10:03 am #241190RumplesGirlKeymasterdoes anyone consider that fact that maybe Hook was lying to Bae, so that Bae should open up and tell him what he wanted to know…. you know, how to KILL RUMPEL?
I think it’s possible Hook was lying. That was my biggest issue with 305, it seemed to fly in the face of 222. In 222, Hook tells a story about his father but no mention of his brother. In 305, he has a brother die tragically in his arms, but there is no mention of them being abandoned by their father and Killian didn’t come across as an abandoned little boy.
BUT my biggest hope is that 317 somehow manages to bridge that divide. Either we learn that it was just a story OR Blackbeard is Killian and Liam’s father.

yeah he never mentioned that he recognized that look because HE was left alone, but because the lost boys had that look and he spent centuries in neverland
