I agree with a lot of the above: tell her. However, I’m scared it won’t go that way. Hook went and told the gang about Neal in the cave in NL right away. Instead, when he went to Emma’s house, he told a bunch of lies.
This time around he’s afraid that telling her could get her and her family killed, so that’s probably the main thing holding him back. However, if he truly believes in her, he should still tell her and believe that she can fend for herself just fine.

Oh I agree. It’s a double edge sword for Hook.
Smoke singles? Carrier pigeon? Sign language?
Surely there is a way to let them know without Zelena being clued in.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 14, 2014 at 6:01 pm #261451PriceofMagicParticipantHook could tell Belle who could then tell the Charmings. That way, Hook hasn’t told Emma but Emma will know what’s going on.
All magic comes with a price!
Keeper of FelixApril 14, 2014 at 6:24 pm #261458Jenna_BParticipantI think the only reason he didn’t just tell Regina and Emma when he got to the Snowing’s apt is because he’s conflicted. He’s not going to blurt out what happened to everyone and their mother and place them in danger – he went to Snowing’s apt, not realizing Emma was there, to do the exact same thing he did in NL – tell Snowing and seek their advice.
And really, look at it from his perspective – he knows he’s in love with Emma. Everyone else knows he’s in love with Emma. But as it’s been clearly pointed out, we don’t know what Emma’s feelings are for Hook…general consensus appears to be it’s anywhere from she doesn’t like him/isn’t interested in him romantically to in love with him as well. So…Hook’s supposed to go to her, 1) declare his love to her – out loud, with the words (again, we all know how he feels but he hasn’t actually dropped the love bomb on the girl), 2) not only tell Emma but whomever she’s with and everyone else, and then 3) see if it’s even really that much of a biggie because hey, if Emma ain’t planning on kissing Hook anytime soon, who gives a hooey about Hook being unable to kiss her? Maybe it’s me, but I’d want to knock the idea off a buddy or two before I tell the admittedly closed off, emotionally tattered girl who just learned how to use her magic in the first place too.

I don’t think anyone here disagrees. He probably went to the Charmings to ask their advice and found Emma there. Bad timing all around. But now it comes down to what will he do next?
From a narrative standpoint you now have tension and in order to keep that tension Hook doesn’t tell. It keeps the audience tuned in and on the edge of their seat.
From a character development standpoint, however, we’d hope he finds a way to tell someone quickly. Even if it resolves the issue before any sufficient tension is developed, it’s better from a character standpoint.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 14, 2014 at 7:42 pm #261477once_dudeParticipantFirst off, I liked the Zeleena plot twist, I should have seen it comign and did not.
Secondly, if I were Hook I would say to myself “there’s other ways I can show my affection without kissing, I shall just tell my Swan the full situation”
Thirdly what happens if Emma kisses Hook, I am sure she is not averse to that idea.
I may have originally been team Swanfire and my longing for Neal to return is clearly great, but this was a great character development episode for both Hook and Emma.
Magic always comes with a price, so I pay with visa.
April 14, 2014 at 8:58 pm #261499Jenna_BParticipantI know it can be a somewhat controversial thought, but — A lot of Emma’s problems come from her inability to choose – she didn’t choose to be given up at birth, she didn’t choose to take the fall for the stolen watches, she didn’t choose to be the savior, she didn’t even feel she had the choice to keep Henry or not when she gave birth. She didn’t even get to choose whether or not she wants to learn magic – she is magical, she is powerful – and that power is needed to defeat Zelena.
For that reason, I think in this storyline, they’re going to have Hook tell Emma – allow her to make the choice. This arc has caused Emma to have to face her demons head-on, and learn more about herself then in seasons past. And she’s finally ready to face the things that scared her – her magic, family, love, actually having happiness. This part of the curse needs to be Emma’s choice.
I don’t actually think, however, that the curse will work. I think Zelena is severely underestimating Emma’s abilities – shown when she called Emma an amateur. Even Regina had no idea how powerful Emma was until this past episode. It seems, in comparison, this is a small part of Zelena’s overall plan – she needs Emma to be magic-free so she can’t intervene. The spell is likely on the simple side for someone as strong as Emma. So while I think Zelena thought she was being ‘wicked’ (ok, I’ll never need to hear that word again by the end of this season), Emma will choose to kiss Hook knowing it could cost her her magic and – nothing. She’ll still be as powerful as she was before – in fact, this will make her even MORE powerful, because Zelena has unwittingly shown Emma she is, in fact, far stronger than the WW.
And….then Regina will sweep in, and defeat Zelena with her cunning and magic – because ultimately I really want Regina to be the one that breaks Zelena!!!
April 14, 2014 at 10:07 pm #261508Killian JonesParticipantI think something Emma does will break the Zelena’s curse. I think he’ll tell Emma they’ll swirl around with this for a while and think of some kind of plan. If Emma is strong enough maybe she’ll be able to keep everyone safe even if the WW wants to kill them?

Actually. Good point.
Can Emma drop that into conversation? Then he can tell her!!
(btw: super nice protection spell = EVERYONE LEAVING THE HOUSE FOR THE ENTIRE DAY) #Logic
