ParticipantI still thing it is the other way round. Originally.. I said that the sorcerer trapped the author behind the door for his own benefit….that maybe he is forcing the author to write certain things, or sabotage his work (page 2 of this thread and elsewhere a week ago). Perhaps the sorcerer is evil and is punishing the author for not writing a happy ending, or is forcing him to do so, but the author is finding create ways to not give him it.
I’d like to add that the reason why I think the sorcerer has bad intentions or is evil because he possesses a hat that sucks people into it. Yes, that could be a good way to get rid of some truly bad people, but I can’t help but shake off the feeling that any magical person with that kind of hat is not going to be at least a tad shady.
I think that’s a very good point. And if the dagger is connected to the hat (the dagger makes the hat box open, ect) then I would say the Sorcerer is more tied to the dark side
That’s a great point, as well, about the dagger. Also the purpose of sucking people into the hat is to use their power…and that can’t be good.
Edit: I also wonder if the hat originally belonged to the author (to help him write his stories?), but then the sorcerer stole it from him along with the author’s books (including the blank ones), tweaked the hat to change its purpose to trapping people to use their magical power, and then trapped the author behind the door.
Or maybe those blank books (currently in our world) keep a record of what the author is writing behind the door…that way the sorcerer knows exactly what is going on in each world without having to travel there himself to find out…a bit like the typewriter also being another conduit and receiver of whatever the author writes behind the door.
Anyway, I am going 0ff-topic, so I will leave it there.

ParticipantI just want to see somebody wear that hat xP

Well we could always make the argument that the purpose of the hat was to be a prison for powerful magical beings who did evil. The Sorcerer could be a benevolent figure who protects the worlds from dark beings by trapping them inside his hat (which really sounds incredibly funny and awesome). Using the trapped people inside the hat as a magical source of power doesn’t necessarily mean thats what its meant to do. I actually figured it was just something Rumpel came up with but it does sound a bit suspicious.

ParticipantWhen I first saw that illustration of Regina’s happy ending (meeting Robin) was taken out if the book, my first thought was that that sounded like something Cora would do. She would never want her daughter to fall in love with Robin. At one point I also speculated that both Pinocchio and the book’s paper might have been made from the same enchanted tree and somehow there’s a connection. I don’t think that anymore. I think he just wants to become fully human. I thought it was really compelling that Rumple used those drops to control August in slightly the same way Zelena used the dagger to control Rumple. To me this gave insight into why Rumple seemed so vicious in that scene. Plus, Rumple’s happy ending is fading fast and he’s become desperate.
Regina/Robin page – It does sound like something Cora would do…ripping it out.
The book’s paper – possibly the pulp was made from the wood shavings and sawdust created when the wardrobe was crafted.

If so, maybe they could use the waters of lake Nostos to restore the page into reality. Or something. Like how they used the water restore the powers of the wardrobe.

ParticipantI still think it’s highly suspicious that the Regina/Robin page was never seen until Will arrived from Wonderland. And, more suspicious, that it was found by Robin in the library as Will looked on.
My theory is that when Regina pushed Cora through the mirror she landed in the Hatter’s hallway of doors. The first door she entered was the Author’s room. She found the author writing the Regina/Robin happy ending. Angry at Regina, Cora rips the page from the book, and demands the Author write her a proper royal ending. She’s traps the author in the writer’s room in much the same way she later trapped the Hatter in the hat room.
Cora exits the Author’s room, taking the Regina/Robin page, magics the Author’s door onto a new page, and returns to the Hatter’s hallway of doors.
She then enters Wonderland where she meets Will, our thief, who later steals the Regina/Robin page.
I think our characters’ stories are so intertwined and convoluted because the author hasn’t placed them into their individual books yet. He’s trapped in his own book, Henry’s book. Their stories won’t be complete until the author places each story into the character’s individual storybook. It would be a bittersweet ending to ONCE if our characters said goodbye to each other, as they individually chose to say goodbye to Storybrooke and entered their individual storybook where they could live happily ever after.

ParticipantThat is really interesting Cinders. And further proof that fans come up with better ideas than the writers.

ParticipantI’ve already written my ending to the ONCE series.
It takes place in the writer’s home. In the writers room, which I’ve nicknamed the Happy Ending Room, the bookshelves are full of books. They look like unwritten books, but they are actually happy ending stories, one for each of our characters. In order for the happy endings to be written, the character will have to actually enter their own individual book.
In order for, say, Regina to receive her ultimate happy ending, she will have to say her final goodbyes to her Storybrooke friends and family and enter into her predestined Happily Ever After story book.
One by one, the author will take a book from the shelf and a character’s name will appear on the cover. Our characters will say goodbye to each other, and to us, and enter the story book containing the ending that they have earned and that the author has written for them. They will each, one by one, enter their story, and fade away from Storybrooke, and our from our tv screens, never to be seen again. (Until they’re released again in a new version of the story at your local theater)The bookshelf will contain fewer and fewer books as our characters disappear until there is only one book left, but two characters remain.
Rumple and Bell stand side by side waiting for a title to appear on the final story. It seems that only one of them will live happily ever after, while the other will remain behind, and disappear from all stories. One fairy tale will never be written. Rumple will seize the book as the audience gasps! But, in a final act of love and selflessness, Rumple will sacrifice his story for his true love Belle. He hands her the book, so that she can receive the story she has earned. It is her story which should be written. One of love, bravery and loyalty. He knows she has earned her happy ending, while I he has not.
As they each hold the book, and say their final goodbyes, we begin to see her title appear on the book. As a B” fades onto the title, Belle begins to fade away into her story and away from her beloved Rumple. The title becomes more clear, “BE….” It’s Belle’s story and she fades further away and the audience weeps. The music will swell as Rumple sheds his final farewell tears. As his teardrops fall upon the book, Rumple begins to fade from all stories. But, remember, this is Belle’s story, and nobody determines her destiny but her. Belle uses true love, which is the most powerful of all magic, to transform her story’s title. Beauty And The Beast indeed. And our last two characters fade into her book.
Final scene. No characters. Just a room full of books where everyone lives happily ever after.

Oh my goodness… that sounds…sad. But I think that’s a bit odd in some sense, and please correct me if I am not understanding correctly but, when you mean everyone has their own story do you mean individually? If so, wouldn’t that mean that there are dozens of clones of the same characters within each person’s story? For example, does Regina have her own story and Robin has his own story and in regina’s there is another Robin and in Robin’s there is another regina? Or does all the characters from one story get the same book (ie Snow, Regina, and Charming are all from the story of Snow White so they get their own story?)
I like it though…very beautiful….
