Would Ariel be fascinated with humans that are living in NL? So far as we know, NL is not a happy place and neither are the boys living there. Even the Lost ones are enslaved.
Maybe they got her curious enough that she found a way to sneak through to FTL to see if there were other, more interesting humans elsewhere? Then she found herself stuck in FTL and went to bug Regina to help her get back home? Maybe that’s how Regina found out about NL?
Even if we don’t get Ariel’s full story immediately, I hope they don’t make us wait too long to find out which land she’s from.
Sorry Phee — I can’t remember… and I could be confusing it with what they said about Tinkerbell…but I could’ve sworn it was in reference to the promo clip with the Little Mermaid. They said something like “how she shows up” will be a surprise. Of course, I read something later that said despite the promo clip, she’ll actually be in Neverland… so who knows. I guess that’s why I thought maybe…maybe she has a way to go back and forth between the two worlds. Afterall – Peter can. And Tink can (maybe?)
There were so many interviews, it’s easy to get stuff mixed up and not remember where you heard what. 😆 Anyway, if PP can just fly to other lands without needing a portal, he’s just gotta fly high enough, then it could very well be that you can just swim to other lands without needing a portal, you’ve just gotta swim deep enough.

Ariel is going to be connected to David. As Tinkerbell was for Regina, the nanny was for Snow it is his turn now. How did he know how to swim underwater in that scene with the Siren in the lake, I can’t think of that name of the episode to save my life.
He was a sheep herder normally there isn’t any lakes around for this must be part of his story. 🙂
August 8, 2013 at 11:24 pm #203771RumplesGirlKeymasterI don’t follow your logic at all. He doesn’t HAVE to be connected to anyone just because other people are connected to characters. The nanny isn’t that big of a deal. They didn’t tease her connection the way they did with Tink. She was just cast as a nanny and when details emerged about the other people cast and the synopsis it was very clear it was Snow’s nanny. There was not great mystery about it.
The name of the episode you’re looking for is What Happened to Frederick and I don’t know that being able to swim underwater is proof that Ariel and Charming are connected. It means that, like most humans, Charming can swim. Hook can swim so by your logic Ariel must be connected to him as well. And as you’ve pointed out Charming grew up on a farm with sheep with no lakes around but that doesn’t mean he didn’t learn how to swim. Human are naturally buoyant. It doesn’t take a mermaid to teach someone how to swim. And by the time Charming was swimming in the Siren’s lake he was already a knight and being able to swim is just another example of his knightly heroics. We know we will learn more about Charming but I think you’re making great leaps in logic to connect the two. Anything on this show is possible but I don’t think the evidence you’ve presented is anything remotely concrete."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"August 8, 2013 at 11:37 pm #203775HappyEndingsSpectatorThat isn’t true you would be surprise how many people don’t know how to swim, float or hold their breath underwater. We are suppose to get David’s back story so he couldn’t have stayed on the farm all the time he must have gone out in the world to see what is out there. Right now I am betting on Ariel has a connection to David. I could be wrong but I don’t think I am.
August 8, 2013 at 11:41 pm #203778RumplesGirlKeymasterI agree with you 100% that he didn’t stay on the farm the whole time. He obviously didn’t. But 1) they’ve never said that Ariel has any connection to anyone else. She doesn’t need to be connected to anyone to integrate her into the story. At this rate, it’s far more likely that it’s Hook or Regina or possibly Rumple. And 2) Ok, sure. Some people don’t know how to swim but my point is that Prince Charming, the best knight in all the land, the hero of ultimate TL story WOULD know how to swim. It’s part of his knightly charm and heroics. If he learned it somewhere it doesn’t have to be from a mermaid. And 3) we don’t know that Ariel was in FTL at all.

Farm boy slayed a dragon, so the fact that he can swim is really no big deal.

The connections are not always in the past, and often to more than one person, even if they tease a surprise in it (like say, Tamara connected to Neal, but also to August and Greg, then Greg himself connected to Regina, and Neal’s storyline was connected to Emma, Rumple, Henry, and Hook).
Ariel having taught David how to swim is possible, but I would not put it in the “must be” category just on the fact that David was shown swimming in the water with the Siren and grew up without an obvious lake or stream near the farm.
We do know we will get his backstory, and since they featured him with a siren before, perhaps they would put him with the next mythological aquatic creature, but who knows. They might also have a scene where present day in NL David falls off the ship after Snow clocks him with the ship mast. I suggested that, but it’s very speculative.
I do think Tink’s connection sounds like it would be with Regina, and I wonder if it might have to do with Regina having “visited” NL by magic mirror. We know Regina had a problem with a certain mermaid, perhaps Tink is the one who ultimately helped her out when Rumple refused. I’m still curious to know what could have been a storyline worth getting Giancarlo as they know they can’t have him on too often so would they waste it with a ho-hum thing? I’m doubtful though that we’re getting Ariel quite that quickly as no one has been cast yet. Isn’t David’s backstory in the first few episodes or is it later? Could Regina’s problem have been that Ariel helped David with something while he was off being all knightly and heroic?
As they said in the interview, they brought in Robin Hood to help illustrate something about Belle’s past, the first time she saw Rumpel’s goodness potential. Did they tease that as a “special connection” to Belle or to Rumpel? Because they could have, or Lancelot had a “special connection” to both Snow and Charming, and you could say to Cora. We still don’t know how she knew him well enough to copy him or fake knowing Snow, as when he met her, Cora was trapped in WL.
So whatever connections they might tease it is not something they dole out one per character and only one character like with Snow and the Nanny.
“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass

Oooo, I like that! Regina visiting NL via mirror would make more sense to me than her having physically been there. And if things get magical mirror-ish between NL and SB with Rumbelle, they could parallel that with Regina doing the same thing between NL and FTL in flashbacks. I like this idea a lot!

That we know of, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t done it on the sly. In the new Eonline interview, the interviewer asks, “Are you looking at some people?” and Adam says, “We are,” whilst being a total tease about how they’re not ready to give away info about her yet. 😛

Well on this note, like you said someplace else, just because we didn’t see one doesn’t mean there isn’t one. David didn’t exactly take us on a tour of his entire farm. And they have to get water from somewhere, even if it’s a tiny lake deep inside woods.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"August 15, 2013 at 1:36 pm #205063AtlanticaDreamParticipantSo excite for Ariel! In Neverland! I’m totally on board with mermaids being able to cross different realms! Especially considering Augusts line saying water flows through all the realms connecting all the lands. So ready for the crack ship Hookriel to set sail! And I think it’s safe to say we will see her dinglehopper at some point this season!
