In this article there is said that Hook will be a part of a new love triangle with Regina and Emma.
http://www.examiner.com/article/once-upon-a-time-season-3-spoilers-love-and-more-changes-teased
That’s the first article I’ve seen mentioning a Regina-Hook-Emma triangle, but it says “previous spoilers have teased.” Everything I’ve seen that implies Hook will be in a triangle is suggesting it’s a triangle with Emma and Neal. They played it up any chance they got at Comic-Con. The only time I remember seeing HookedQueen brought up was in that interview with the cast standing together, and the interviewer suggested it, and they all reacted like, “Say what, haven’t heard that one before,” and Colin adorably leered over Lana’s shoulder as they joked about the possibility.
Hook and Emma will be building on their relationship in NL. She’s the only person he really feels that he can trust and talk to. The writers will want to establish their bond before Neal gets brought back to complicate things. Not sure how they could do that and also have Hook convincingly pursue a relationship with Regina at the same time.
Anyway, the way they’ve been saying that we’ll “meet her love interest” doesn’t sound like it’s a character we already know well, so I really don’t think that Hook is in the running. If it’s someone brand new who we’ve never seen before, there’d have to be a casting call soon, if he’s gonna be “very early on” in the season.
They never said the romance is mutual, present day or true love. We may meet Regina’s version of Rumpel’s thing with Cora.
GAH, I still haven’t recovered from Corumple! I reckon Graham qualifies as Regina’s “that is SO wrong” relationship, so we don’t really need another one.
What if Regina met RH in the past, and then he met Marion and dumped Regina for true love? Hath no fury like the saying goes. Maybe Regina cursed Marion and Baby.
If they do go with RegalHood, I hope that’s not how they do it. The main reason I’m crackshipping it is because I reckon he’s exactly the type of character who could be a good influence on her in the future. Months ago, before we even knew that RH was gonna be on the show at all, there was a thread discussing potential candidates for Regina’s man and RH was one of the suggestions that I liked. Didn’t really think about it as a potentially realistic prospect until they re-cast RH for S3 though. Now I’ve thought about it a bit too much. Ooops. 😛

This sounds like someone may fancy Regina and try to pursue her romantically but Regina’s not reciprocating. Perhaps when they retrieve Henry and get back to Storybrooke, Henry may convince Regina to go on a date with this mystery man then Rumple can pop up and interrupt them as payback for Regina interrupting his hamburger date with Belle.

They could do a true new love thing with RH, post Marion’s death in SB. Although POM feels that’s too much messing with a myth, I feel that’s not a huge problem given “messing with” is kind of the theme of this show, plus unlike the BBC show, the whole show is not based around RH. Fans are not that invested in his story with Marion at this point.

That’s why I reckon her next guy could well be her eventual endgame. K&H have said before that they intend to explore the idea of loving again once you’ve lost your (first) true love. Setting up a relationship for Regina that will be genuine, functional, positive and long lasting would be showing that hopeful, loving again story. We know she’s gonna have that story at some point, because we’ve seen FrankenDaniel tell her to do it…
Regina: But I love you.
Daniel: Then love again.
…If they’re gonna have Regina honour Daniel’s final wish for her, I reckon they have to ultimately give her an actual, loving, healthy relationship with a standup guy. Daniel loved the good person she used to be, so I believe there will be someone who will be able to bring that out in her again. Eventually. Even if the relationship doesn’t start out easy and love at first sight. If they introduced such a character now, they’d have time to show the relationship growing and Regina changing for the better as she comes to terms with having a new love in her life.
August 7, 2013 at 10:04 am #203494PriceofMagicParticipantI could see Regina being afraid of being in love again since it didn’t end well last time. Would love to see a scene of Regina going to Rumple for dating advice.

Keeper of FelixAugust 7, 2013 at 10:23 am #203497RumplesGirlKeymasterKFC and Phee make a good point. The only thing left to explore with Regina is endgame, which means this new romantic interest either has to be someone who is already full time (Hook) or someone they plan on making fulltime or at least someone who is ok with being a guest star or “also starring” every episode (RH). Like Phee said, this relationship won’t start off easy; Regina has a lot of baggage and a lot to make up for before she can really be open to a romance. This is one of the reasons I really liked her and Hook together (except I’ve now jumped ship and am clinging rather desperately to Hookriel).
I guess it could be someone new except adding another new character on top of PP, Tink, Ariel, random Lost Boys and maybe Ursula and Triton feels heavy and unfocused and too many new characters was the problem last season. It almost has to be someone we already know."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"August 7, 2013 at 10:35 am #203500PriceofMagicParticipantPerhaps we will be introduced to the love interest in a flashback then when everyone gets back to Storybrooke the romance will develop from there.

I agree that is a possibility, and given that Regina is one of the central characters of the show, I don’t know that they’d do someone “minor.” It needs to be a well known character. if Sebastian Stan were more available, it could be him given the sort of flirty relationship the two have shown in the past, but I think we can rule him out given his schedule. If Giancarlo (Sydney) weren’t contracted full time in Revolution, it could also be him, but I think we can also rule him out. I don’t know what kind of deal ABC made with NBC to allow him back to OUAT for one episode, but I’m betting it stops there; Revolution is NBC’s “hit” and they won’t let it suffer for another network. The more I talk about this idea of love interest in a flashback, the more Phee’s RegalHood makes sense. (Dang it, Phee!) We’re pretty sure Snow and RH met in the woods and that is how Bandit Snow came to be, so I suppose it is possible that Regina met RH after Snow did, while she was tracking down Snow to kill her.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"August 7, 2013 at 11:07 am #203503PheeParticipantI guess it could be someone new except adding another new character on top of PP, Tink, Ariel, random Lost Boys and maybe Ursula and Triton feels heavy and unfocused and too many new characters was the problem last season. But like I said before, they’ve used terms like, “we’ll be meeting” and Adam tweeting “her new love is coming soon”, makes it sound like someone who isn’t already there to me. Also, anyone who’s already there wouldn’t be a healthy relationship for Regina IMO. HookedQueen would be hot, but I think they’re each too personally destructive to be able to support each other in a healthy, long lasting relationship.
Like you mentioned, it’d mean adding yet another new character, on top of ones we’re already getting. That’s a reason why I think RH is a realistic candidate. We may have met him before, but just barely. It’s not like we actually know him yet, (don’t know him at all with his new face), but we know we’re gonna get to. That qualifies RH as a “coming soon” type of character. If they’re looking to try and keep the cast from bloating this season, why bother bringing back RH at all if he’s just gonna be around to hang out with Belle for a few eps? Grumpy could do that. There’s some specific reason they’re re-introducing RH. They’re gonna give him a story. If there’s also another newbie who is being set up for Regina, the cast is starting to snowball.
Like I said before, if he is gonna be someone new who we know nothing about yet, I’d expect to see a casting call or hear some casting news soon. This guy is meant to be seen early on in the season. We’ve only got 11 eps to play with before the hiatus. “Very early on” in a block of 11 eps suggests before ep 5, and they’re already up to filming ep 3, will have ep 4 written, and will be into planning ep 5. So we’ll see soon enough if any more info about more new characters gets leaked. If it does, I may let the RegalHood ship sink. He just seems like the prime candidate right now IMO, considering the tidbits we currently know.
August 7, 2013 at 11:12 am #203504PriceofMagicParticipantI don’t think it is Robin Hood. Not just because of the Marian thing, but we’ve already met Robin Hood. I think Regina’s love interest is going to be someone new. Maybe it’ll be Eric and then there’s rivalry for his affections from Ariel. In the Disney version, Ursula transformed herself into Vanessa. Maybe they’re going a mixture of the Anderson and Disney route. Ariel fancies Eric but he loves someone else (Regina) so Ariel makes a deal with Ursula to become human. Only if Ariel fails she doesn’t become sea foam but Ursula’s slave.
How far from the curse being cast do the FTL events of Lacey take place? Robin and Marian looked pretty much in love there. Would Robin be ready to move on that quickly from Marian?
