Question: Any spoilers on Once Upon a Time? —Patti
Ausiello: Matt Mitovich just got off the horn with series creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis, and they caught us up on some of the backstory gaps that will be filled in via flashbacks during Season 3. Episode 2 is Snow/Charming-centric, covering the time between the former’s awakening from the sleep curse and when they encountered Regina on the battlefield. “How did the queen react to that? And who first told her?” Horowitz wonders. Episode 3 will relate Tinkerbell’s origin, featuring The Blue Fairy (but not Amy Acker’s Nova) and addressing the question: “What makes a fairy?” Also on tap for fall is a new chunk of Rumple’s past, the tale of how Hook became a pirate and the self-explanatory Episode 6, titled “Ariel” (and yes, Eric is being cast/will not be an existing character).http://tvline.com/2013/08/20/once-upon-a-time-spoilers-season-3-episode-6-ariel-ask-ausiello/

I’m excited about Eric not being Hook because maybe, just maybe Eric is in the past and he’s a rejected and/or unrequited lover. I want the Anderson tale! And Hookriel! And a bitter Ariel!

NO. NO. NO. NO. NO. NO.
I need to process this.

I have sadness.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"August 20, 2013 at 8:06 pm #205956MatthewPaulModeratorI’m actually feeling the opposite of RG about this decision. I always thought Prince Eric could work as his own character, and I’m sure many diehard Little Mermaid fans are happy.

Well there is the Andersen unrequited angle or maybe they will just do it like Aurora/Phillip or Cindy/Thomas. Side characters with ho-hum twists that don’t change their story much.
“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass
August 20, 2013 at 9:22 pm #205965RumplesGirlKeymaster@Runaroundmacy had a theory about a week or so back when we were speculating about Ariel that Eric was in the past and that he actually broke her heart. Like the Anderson story, Eric marries another woman (Vanessa) and leaves Ariel and she changed back to a mermaid. Maybe that’s the angle their going to go with here.

I was never a huge fan of Eric=Hook. If Hook shaved and washed off the eyeliner, I could see the resemblance, but I was never invested in that theory. I think my Hookriel shipping would work out with her meeting Hook after her failed love affair, or lack thereof. I want to see snark and bantering.
