Emma is gone and not coming back. Eddy just said that this is a brand-new story and isn’t about Emma. Eddy also said this is a case. Hook’s cursed persona’s job is literally to find missing people now.

If Hook’s searching for his mother it’s likely because the character (the mother) has some larger story to play–like perhaps this new Witch figure. So they need to make her prominent by having Hook “feeling”/”sensing” (whatever) her in order to make her story larger.
Also, the idea that Hook sensing or looking for his mother should be secondary to sensing or looking for Emma is…well, it’s what has been wrong with OUAT for like 4 yrs now. Do we all remember that this show was founded on parents searching for their children and children searching for their parents?

Doesn’t make sense why the mother is being brought up now though after all these years without a single word. Especially over missing his true love and possibly child.
I mean no there should not be any competition, family is family. I just feel like why isn’t he sensing Emma or his child as well as his mom?
??? anyway, I don’t know how I feel if his mother turns out to be an evil witch…. I would wonder if his mother is the one who puts his father under the sleeping curse and we will find that out later.

You mean the ship he traded to get to Emma twice? Highly highly doubtful.
This may be a crazy idea, but perhaps Hook feels that the life he currently lives as Officer Rogers or whatever is a lie, and that he is searching for his old life and all that entails (Emma, his ship, his mother, his brother, etc).
Like I said, I think Hook can “feel” for Emma as well as other things because hes missing not just the memory of one person, but of his entire life (and Hook is several centuries old, guys.) It doesn’t have to just be Emma. He knows something is wrong and quite understand what it is because of the curse.
If its his mother, it will be because the show is going to focus on her more prominently than Emma because JMO booted herself out. But logically, Hook has been disconnected from his real life and feels that void there. Emma is apart of that real life.
