Emma was Emma Swan before she met Neal. That’s why he gave her the swan keychain.

Ha, of course. She was Emma Swan when she was a kid with Lily. That is a very good point.

The name Cleo is short for Cleopatra, one of the most beautiful and powerful women of her day. The name Celo is derived from the Greek kleos (glory, fame). Also, an alternate spelling, Clio, is the name of the Greek muse of history and heroic poetry.

The surname Fox makes me think she is both cunning and sly, perhaps more than she initially appears. Apparently, there is even a constellation called Vulpecula et Ansar (i.e. The Fox and the Goose), and while a goose isn’t a swan, it does bring to mind a certain Emma Swan.

We see the last name, “Fox” in the Storybrooke graveyard…the tombstone of Margaret Fox and also Catherine Fox.  Margaret and Catherine are the first names of two of the Fox sisters.  They were spiritualism frauds who tricked a lot of people.  One particular ruse they used was dropping an apple under their skirt in order to produce noises made by spirits.

I don’t know if this ties in with Cleo Fox but it is interesting that the name Fox is in the graveyard.

Having this woman possibly being one of the muses could be interesting though if she is, and she’s based on the Disney muses, then it’s kind of another case of whitewashing.
