Much in the the same way that Belle sees the best in Rumple, Emma tries to see the best in Hook — the only difference is that Hook is genuinely trying to do the right thing, to be the better person, whereas Gold just can’t do that. Gold just always, always has the Dark One inside him.
I really loved this part for reasons.
March 19, 2015 at 7:07 pm #299176RumplesGirlKeymasterHook is obviously crashing at Granny’s.
IS HE?!?!?!?!?!? That’s news to all of us, Colin!
No, seriously. The last time we saw Hook sleeping, it was ON A DOCK. Now you need to tell me where he’s getting money for coffee and grilled cheese.
*reads on*
TVLINE | Paying what rent? And how does he make rent? Do we know? Is there any kind of an economy in Storybrooke??
I don’t know, but I don’t think Granny needs rent because she must make so much money from being the only place that people go to eat! [Laughs] Plus, I’m sure Hook has probably got a couple of doubloons tucked away somewhere.Sweet Jesus. I…am not going to comment about a 21st century town taking pirate doubloons. And no. It doesn’t matter that so many people eat at Granny’s; she cannot turn THAT much of a profit that she can upkeep an entire inn.

Maybe Storybrooke has a Cash for Gold shop? The doubloons would still be made out of genuine gold.

Oh you cute defender you. You keep on keeping on, Monkey.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"March 19, 2015 at 8:02 pm #299194TheWatcherParticipantHow would Hook even have ANY possessions in SB. He’s never been effected by any of the curses (except the one that took them back home). So he shouldn’t have any gold coins or anything in SB at all, laying around anywhere. Unless he stole them or something. I’ve had it in my head he has been employed by Belle at the library to make some cash. I’ll stick with that. Its been 6 weeks. No way Emma has been letting the guy just…not be trying to do anything with his life. Or maybe she has. Idk.

you mean the library no one goes to and is no way shape or form funded by the USA federal gov’t has enough money in the budget to hire a guy part time to stand around and do his own work and not actually do any sort of “library” work?
I mean, where is this job and can I have it?

Well everyone in SB have jobs. Snow is a teacher, David a sheriff, etc. No way they are doing it free. We never see anyone go into the library but I’m sure folks do. Belle has been seen placing books back onto shelves. I mean…its possible. Who’d have guessed it… Captain Hook is a librarian’s assistant…..e_e

We know he traded the Jolly Roger away for a portal, but who’s to say he didn’t bring coins and some of his other possessions back with him? As you said, no curse pulled Hook away, so he had that freedom.
Anyway, working as a librarian’s assistant might be a stretch, but what about getting paid from the sheriff’s department? I mean, Hook’s always working with Emma on her cases, so she might as well already be paying him as a deputy.
March 19, 2015 at 9:50 pm #299214KebParticipantI thought it was obvious he was staying at Granny’s, but maybe that’s just me.
