Question: Do you have any Once Upon a Time spoilers? —Jackie
Ausiello: I have not just “any” spoilers, but a bit of a sneak peek at Season 6! For the final two episodes of the about-to-premiere Season 5B, the ABC series is looking to cast the recurring roles of two brothers — one who is physically imposing, brutish, morally corrupt and willing to destroy his family in the pursuit of power, and the other who is weaker and desperate to escape his older bro’s sinister shadow. Should Once get picked up for the fall, these two newcomers would spill over into next season, as well. Cain and Abel? An anthropomorphized Scar and Mufasa? Share your theories in the Comments!

They must feel pretty confident about a new season if they’re casting characters that are going to spill over. Even if it’s a short season or anything.

It doesn’t sound like Cain/Able and it doesn’t sound like Mufasa/Scar either.

I would guess Mufasa and Scar too, but Scar was the evil younger brother, so this makes me even more confused. If there were to adapt the Lion King, I’m guessing they would be in human form. Also, this confirms that Adam and Eddy are planning a Season 6, and it’s just a matter of whether ABC greenlights it or not.

I have no clue on who this could be about…

Here’s a Grimm Fairy Tale about two brothers….the older one was rich and heartless and the younger, poor and humble.

Worth mentioning that they didn’t specify race in the call. While theoretically the show could cast anyone for Scar and Mufasa, it would be nice (very nice) to cast actors of African descent to stay in the location of the Lion King movie. (Of course, since the Lion King is really just Hamlet, they might be thinking that…but..*shrug)

I proudly cast in my vote for Yusuf Gatewood for Scar.

After some thinking, I definitely don’t want to rule it out being Mufasa and Scar, despite the casting notes. This is OUAT after all, and they could be adding their own twists. What if Mufasa is actually a bit of a tyrant, and that is a reason as to why Scar wants to dethrone him?

This. OUAT loves to give us villains with tragic, family realted backstories to explain their villainy.

I bet Rumple takes the role of Rafiki.

Unless they really want talking lions, I’m guessing someone gets bippity bobbity booped into a big cat by Rumple/Rafiki.

From the same source who provided the Cleo Fox casting info:

I think the episode numbers are a mistake and that they meant to say 522 and 523, not 521 and 522. TVLine said it was for the final 2 episodes of the Season, and the Prince Marcus call for 521 has different filming dates. 521 already started filming:

    So logically

    521 – February 26th-March 9th
    522 – March 9th-March 21st
    523 – March 21st-April 2nd
