Says Kitsis: “Usually we’re like, ‘Hey, we’re going to a new land,’ but this is much more in the vein of when Gold looked up [at the end of Season 1] and said, ‘Magic is coming,’ where a condition on the show changed as opposed to the characters changing.”

My theory is that Rumple loses all of his goodness and becomes the next Big Bad.

Disagree. I think Rumple is actually going to lose his Dark One powers, and Emma is going to be the new Dark One and the next Big Bad.

I like both theories. If Emma is the new Dark One does that automatically make Lily the new Savior? Is the Savior the counterbalance to the Dark One?

I like the idea of Rumple being the Big Bad because he knows so much about everyone in Storybrooke. He knows everyone’s secrets. Everyone’s buttons. Rumple completely off the leash would be extremely ‘world-altering’.

The only way for Rumple to truly become unhinged is if Belle dies. That would place Rumple as the next season’s big bad…unless he loses all hope and tricks Emma into killing him so he can die in peace and reunite with Belle and Neal in the afterlife, but then the ratings for Season 5 would be soooooo sooo sooo low…it’d more than likely be only half a season.

while Barbara Hershey’s encore as Cora sets the stage for learning more about Regina’s past as well as “her present relationship with Robin,” Kitsis says.

“After what I had to do…the deals I had to make to get us this life, and you just wanna toss it away?” – Cora 1×18 The Stable Boy

Why am I getting the impression that Cora made a deal with the Author to keep Regina from ever meeting Robin Hood? If he wrote for Cruella to never kill again, whose to say he didn’t write for Regina to never meet Robin Hood.

This is also supposed to be the episode Lana teased a surprised shocker about Regina’s past.

I agree. I think Rumple loses his dark one status which would be an interesting storyline to explore but whether or not the writers take the time and opportunity to go there is another matter.

Interesting theory, very interesting theory. However, isn’t Cora already in Wonderland at this point?

She’s in Wonderland at the point Regina meets Tinkerbell, but she was able to come back to get Regina’s dad.

I saw a theory (sorry I can’t remember the originator!) that Cora had the Author alter the Page 23 scenario which is why there are two versions.

Oh sneaky fairy and August are back. I hope it finally will be revealed just how much “a little fairy” told August back in S1 about Baelfire and the dark one dagger, and to what end. Where are they in that pic? At the convent? At Granny’s?

These photos Adam posted on his twitter are probably from the same scene as well:

What I find interesting, if this is Rumple dying, where’s Belle?
