‘Tis better to have loved and lost…? If that’s what you’re selling, Once Upon a Time‘s Regina probably isn’t buying, not so soon after burying another great love.
As Lana Parrilla explains in this TVLine Q&A, with Robin Hood’s selfless sacrifice, Regina has not lost just a soul mate, she’s also hemorrhaging hope, which Snow White will be the first to tell you is critical to clutch onto. Is karma at play for the formerly Evil Queen? And for the short term at least, what out-of-town caper might help distract Regina from dwelling on Robin’s death? Read on for Parrilla’s thoughts on those topics, the flashbacks that made her misty, and the new faces arriving in Sunday’s two-hour Season 5 finale (airing early, at 7/6c).

[Once creators] Adam and Eddy told me that Sam Witwer and Hank Harris are not necessarily playing who the press reports have said they’re playing. Will we get a sense of who they in fact are, and what the new wrinkle will be?
Yes, you will get a sense of who they are in the finale. They are both really interesting characters, and both very talented actors. I was watching the finale last night, and I was extremely intrigued by both of them. In Season 6, I think we are going to see some new villains, and some old villains are going to resurface and surprise us in ways that we weren’t expecting.I don’t really know how many new villains can come to OUAT when they’ve nearly covered them all! All that is really left is Scar, Jafar, & Dr. Facilier….we could have had King John had Robin Hood still been alive, but with this whole destroy magic plot, one really great villain to lead that would be Judge Claude Frollo considering his overly religious beliefs!
As for old villains…most of them are dead so that really leaves Evil Queen Regina, Wicked Witch Zelena, Dark One Rumplestilskin, & The Captain Hook….Ursula got her happy ending, Cruella is dead, Peter Pan is dead, Cora is dead, Ingrid is dead, Arthur is dead…but Maleficent is still alive.

It was meant about friendship as in it was better to have known this person as a friend than to have never met them at all. Romantic love wise, heartbroken people tend to live shorter lives so that saying is incorrect.
All magic comes with a price!

I really don’t know how they would bring in scar (unless they have someone transformed into a lion, or have the pride lands be some kind of kingdom with an animal motif or something) I mean, it could happen, I just doubt it. As for Facieller ….. Well we know Arnold Pinnock is in the finale… could be him. And Jafar would be perfect to bring into the show. I remember A&E once said they wanted Aladdin and Jasmine and Ariel to come in the second season. Maybe they really do have a story for that.

Don’t forget the Horned King for new villainss. He might be a new villain, if they ever put in. That including Shan Yu. I’m not sure about Shere Khan though, because Graham as the Huntsman said animals are pure of heart and honorable. Then that would make Shere Khan and other animals the good guys. I came up with this funny idea with him saying: “You should also know that Snow White is a dear friend of Shere Khan.”
Oh and you forgot King George for old Villains. The old villains that are still here and alive are Regina the Evil Queen, Captain Hook, Rumplestiltskin, That jerky brainless oaf Isaac Heller (no longer an author for good) King George, Maleficent, and Zelena the Wicked Witch. Also James is dead as well with Gaston, Cruella, Blind Witch, Pan, Ingrid and Cora.</del>
May 12, 2016 at 10:41 pm #323576TheWatcherParticipantI actually wouldn’t be surprised if Arthur, Blind Witch, and Cruella find some way back to the over-world and be the returning villains. I might be interested in that.

What was your reaction?
I was shocked, but I also understand that from this will come storytelling and the writers have a vision, and we all have to understand and respect their vision. They felt that they needed to write this story to, I think, facilitate other characters and to help move the story forward. As special as that love was for Regina and Robin, I’m really curious to see what happens with Regina from here on out — what is she going to do, and what new stories are going to come out of Robin’s death? I feel like their love transcends death; I don’t think that that love is ever going to die. He may not be on the show, but that love will still live within her.Is it just me or does Lana not sound as upset as Sean did about the death of Robin? Sure, she was probably as surprised as he was to learn that Regina wouldn’t end up with her love interest, but I guess she’s playing it down now, since she didn’t even address how fans Regina and Robin feel. Maybe it’s because she still has a job whereas Sean M. is freshly out of a job. It could also be because of the large SQ fanbase who love Regina but not Robin. Also, Lana really seems to love playing Regina, no matter how great the challenge. She has also gone on record that she really loves playing the Evil Queen (even more than Mayor Mills), so the death of Robin somehow bringing out the Evil Queen a bit might be the perfect opportunity for Lana to flex her acting muscles more.

I thought that too. She’s certainly being a lot more gracious about it. But from what I’ve seen of her, Lana comes across as generally very diplomatic and tactful. I do hope she still enjoys her job. The whole main cast came across as a bit flat in 5B, and I’d like to see Regina go back to having a commanding presence on screen.

Except Arthur doesn’t count much as a villain. He was just a misguided man, missed understood Merlin’s prophecy. And after all, he seems to be against real villains and evil. Especially dark ones.
