As revealed in Once Upon a Time‘s Season 4 finale, the only person who can rid the realms of the Darkness once and for all, and thus save newly christened Dark One Emma, is Merlin. But as our heroes seek out the elusive Sorcerer, viewers will meet some other familiar faces from Camelot lore.
TVLine has learned exclusively that in addition to casting Merlin for Season 5, the ABC series will also introduce King Arthur and Guinevere, all in heavily recurring roles. Here now, the provocative details:

I change my vote to Colin Salmon as Merlin. I actually really want him to be Morgan Freeman or James Earl Jones, but that’s not the story they are telling. Also, they can’t afford them.
For MERLIN, Once is seeking a black Brit in his early 30s to early 40s and boasting a natural British accent to play “a man with great wisdom and intelligence beyond his years,” someone who has always put duty in front of his own desires, even at great personal cost.
I KNEW IT! I knew they’d want a younger Merlin!!!!!!!!! Though I truly have no idea who they could hire to play him….I’d liked to see Idris Elba tackle the role, but he probably doesn’t even know a thing about OUAT, and I highly doubt they can afford him.
ARTHUR is described as a “good and just ruler” who, beneath the surface, “is a master manipulator who can carry a grudge to the grave, and maybe beyond.” He harbors an “eternal burning love” for Guinevere that can lean toward being a bit… controlling. For this role, Once aims to cast a gent in his mid-30s to early 40s, and again a British accent is mandatory.
I think we know who could possibly be, or contribute to our Season 5A Villain….a “good and just ruler” on the outside but on the inside is a master manipulator, and a bit controlling….
The casting call for GUINEVERE, meanwhile, seeks a Latina in her mid-20s to mid-30s to play a “headstrong queen” who fell in love with her husband’s most trusted knight, the dashing Lancelot — previously played on Once by Teen Wolf‘s Sinqua Walls (at right), but (supposedly) dead in the current timeline. She now must balance her own happiness with the well-being of Camelot.

*sigh* but naturally I’m afraid to see how other parts of the fandom are going to react to this new development. I can gear it now: “But Merlin is an old white guy, not a middle aged black man” >_< they can go step on Legos though 😀

Umm… calling it now: ARTHUR IS THE DARKNESS. After Gwen (I cant spell her name and I will not try v_v) left him he did some magick mumbo wumbo, and attempted to destroy every one and everything in all realms out of jealousy (one of those “if I cant have her then no one can types). Merlin defeated him but now that his…spirit..goo…darkness is inside Emma, Emma will help him work out his relationship issues because, ya know, shes true love and all that.

But I digress.

Sounds like Arthur’s gonna be kind of unlikeable. Too bad they used up Sebastian Roche already, because he might have been great in that role, (if a little bit older than they seem to be wanting to go with for Arthur).
