What about Andrew Stewart-Jones (Crispus Allen on Gotham) for Merlin?
[adrotate group="5"]June 10, 2015 at 12:25 pm #305300RumplesGirlKeymasterHe’s a bit on the younger side of the casting call for Merlin, BUT if they want to go “big name” or “fandom recognizable” then I’d vote for Samuel Anderson, who most recently played Danny Pink on Doctor Who
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"June 10, 2015 at 6:03 pm #305313PriceofMagicParticipantArthur’s casting call bugs me. Specifically the bit about his eternal burning love for Guinevere making him a bit “controlling”.
We all know Guinevere and Lancelot are going to have an affair, yet it seems like in television that whenever a woman has an affair, it’s her husband’s fault that she cheated on him, yet if the genders were flipped and the husband cheats on his wife, then the husband is a douchebag. It’s double standards. Why can’t the woman be held accountable for her own actions instead of blaming the husband?
If the husband has an affair, the wife is always presented as sweet and loving and what a jerk he is for cheating on her. Yet if the wife is having the affair, the husband gets the blame 9 times out of 10 because he’s “oppressive” or “controlling” etc etc.

Keeper of FelixJune 10, 2015 at 6:58 pm #305316TheWatcherParticipantWell did Gwen actually love Arthur? Or was she forced to be with him? I mean back in medieval times, I dont think women had as much say as men when it came to relationships. If she were forced to be his bride by arranged marriage or some kind of “King’s right to his pick of the women” type thing, then I understand her cheating and dont blame her at all. IF she did marry him of her own accord and really loved him but then flip flopped away, then I see what you are saying POM. But also, in some cultures there was no divorce. So its a complicated.
But then again I know nothing about these characters :3"I could have the giant duck as my steed!" --Daniel Radcliffe

It was specifically set up for split Arthur and Gwen up.
Arthur’s casting call says he has an “eternal burning love” for Guinevere which suggests he does actually love her and that it isn’t just a marriage of convenience.

Yes but BBC’s version is so against mythos it’s almost funny. And yes, it’s a good show but we shouldn’t take that as anywhere near canon.
Guinevere did love Arthur. It’s that she loved Lancelot more. There were also other considerations like Morgan le Fey and Mordered.

Lancelot was in the EF pre-Dark Curse, so 30+ years ago. Or do you think Camelot was frozen in some way similar to the EF and Arendelle?

It could just be a coincidence however with filming beginning in a few days, they in theory should have cast the main big arc roles by now. She’s not Latina like the casting call asks, but I can very easily see Carrie as Guinevere. She is 34 and the casting call asked for someone in their mid-20s to mid-30s so she fits that part.
Just thought it might be worth a mention.
