The Dragon appears to have escaped death at least twice!
EW has learned exclusively that Tzi Ma is slated to reprise his role as The Dragon on Once Upon a Time in season 6, though details on his return are being kept under wraps.

Anyway, I never thought he wouldn’t be back for season 6.
I figured he had to come back (would have been nice if TVLine hadn’t put him in the “death” category of their May Sweeps, putting him in “maybe dead” instead) because the EQ is left holding his heart, not crushing it.

I recall they made the same mistake listing the Apprentice as a death in their May 2015 Sweeps, too. The Apprentice did eventually die, but it wasn’t until the Season 5 premiere months later.
Youd think someone as presumably powerful as him would have made the necessary enchantments to not have his heart be able to be taken.
Regina did it to Henry. Why is this not like standard magical protection?

In some mythologies dragons do something like that, keeping their hearts outside of their bodies. If this dragon is as sneaky as he ought to be, he wouldn’t put up defenses that an enemy might, with time, be able to batter down. He’d let his enemy steal a decoy.
