I bear good news for Once Upon a Time fans hoping that the introduction of Merida (played by Amy Manson) means we’ll at some point meet her royal ‘rents. This season’s ninth episode will introduce Queen Elinor and King Fergus.

The ninth episode? Seems a tad late for Season 5A to introduce them.

    Maybe that’s a Merida centric?

A tad? That’s really late unless Merida is carrying over to 5B

    Maybe that’s a Merida centric?

That gives Merida two centrics in 5A since 506 is her episode. That’s not *excessive* I suppose but since 5A is only 10 episodes as is, that’s a bit more than some are going to like for a guest role.

For all we know, this could be where Merida’s storyarc comes to a close. Her parents may only appear for a brief scene, and that’s that. Not like they haven’t had other characters appear just for a bit scene, like with Belle’s mother.

If she’s not carrying into 5B (and I don’t quite know why she would) then it make sense that they’d have some sort of send off for her before the end of the season. So if 506 is “Merida’s adventure” then 509 can be “Post-Brave spin”

It could be the episode where we will potentially see the last of Merida with her returning home to her kingdom. Episode 9 is very late to meet her folks, so I think they’ll have probably only a scene or two this Season 5A like Elsa and Anna’s parents.

Besides, don’t we only get ten episodes this season half? Or was it eleven like last year?

I’m curious to see how the writers write Merida, are they going to write her so that if you haven’t seen Brave, you still know what’s going on or are they going to assume that everyone has seen Brave?

Hmmm. I think they will write her in a way that you wouldn’t have needed to see the film in order to get it. Just thinking back to how they handled the little mermaid, it was pretty much all stated and shown for the audience that you didn’t really need prior knowledge. Same with Frozen. They basically explained everything that needed to be said (that Rock Trolls are good with memory magic, for example, and that they helped the sisters when they were young. If you hadn’t saw the movie, it was stated in the show.) So. Yeah. I think those who haven’t seen it will be fine.

    10 in 5A

    12 in 5B

(but there’s gotta be some 2 hours somewhere…likey 521/522 and maybe something in 5A)

Can’t be any two hours in 5A, when 5A is only 10 episodes long, and that was specifically done so the 100th episode could be the 5B premiere. Unless they do another two hours under the same episode number like Smash the Mirror.
