Are Once Upon a Time‘s Emma and Killian/Hook listed anywhere on TVLine’s May Sweeps Scorecard? –Bridget
We’ve not had many spoilers for Once Upon a Time‘s Rumbelle recently. Is there anything that Adam and Eddy are willing to spill? Will we see them in the Dark Castle again? Will we see the chipped cup again? –Betsy

But dang, I was hoping for more Dark Castle. Love that place.

Belle has a limit, there’s only so much stuff she can take from Rumple. He’s been tricking and manipulating her since 4B begun. And this last one, switching everything around so Rumple can have his happy ending when Belle expressed that she is scared of him and she’s moved on– there’s no way there can be a happy ending for Rumbelle at this point.
Rumple switching everything around, he’s manipulating Belle’s free will here. It’s the same reason Emma right now is so upset with her parents.
April 10, 2015 at 2:08 pm #301154RumplesGirlKeymasterJust occurred to me: we won’t be seeing the DC at all, even in the season finale? An episode(s) in which we know we are going back in time to an AU….so, is Rumple not the DO at all in the past now? Is someone else? Is Rumple even alive in the Past AU since he would have died centuries beforehand without becoming the DO?

Remember the BTS photo of Robert Carlyle in fairytale clothes but without the greenish-gold makeup? A lot of people remarked how Bobby was dressed more like Prince Charming than Rumple. Perhaps in this AU Rumple gets to reap all of the rewards of being the Dark One but without paying a price. Either that or Rumple is not the Dark One in the finale. I cannot explain how he would still be alive, unless he (1) went to NL (2) was the Dark One until very recently when his curse was broken or (3) is the Dark One but without all the nasty consequences (doesn’t have to pay a price for dark magic). If Rumple isn’t the dark one, then maybe someone else like Emma is.

April 10, 2015 at 2:55 pm #301157RumplesGirlKeymasterIf the AU is designed to ensure that the former villains get their HEA then Rumple’s HEA would include:
money (he was once a poor peasant)
power
immortality
Belle (and Bae, but who am I kidding)
but NOT being linked to the DO and the dagger.

Well, Rumple’s happy ending could include having all of the advantages of the DO curse (i.e. magic, eternal life, wealth) minus having to pay a price (i.e. being controlled by dagger, having to give up power for love). Rumple would still be the all-powerful Dark One in effect, but without being tied to the dagger or being forced to appear greenish-gold in hue. In such an AU scenario, Rumple bends the laws of magic so that he can have it all, without paying any price at all, much like when he wanted to “cleave” himself from the dagger using the sorcerer’s hat while keeping his magic (and I suspect immortality).

April 10, 2015 at 3:19 pm #301161nevermoreParticipantThis is pure speculation, of course, and I doubt the show writers would go there, but wouldn’t Rumple’s HE technically involve never giving up Bae in the first place? To be there as his son grows up, and hence actually break the cycle of parental abandonment, but in a situation where he is powerful enough to not get pushed around and hence not lose his boy? And for that, he’d have to not be a coward. So, is it possible that in AU, he actually did fight the ogre wars, survive, get recognition, becomes an actual (war) hero… although, unless there is some deux ex machina intervention, he still dies an natural death, Mila probably stays with him (since he’s now no longer the town coward), Bae never meets Emma, Henry is never born… I’m sure they won’t do this. But to me, this would be the most logical “AU” for his character.

If the writers were still being true to the character of Rumple they created in S1, then yes, absolutely, his goal would be to rewrite his story to get his son back. Rumple point blank said in S3 that his son was his happy ending, so keeping Baelfire was absolutely his dream up until S3. However, I sadly don’t expect the writers to stick to this original concept. Probably, Rumple’s happy ending will have “evolved” so that now he simply wants unlimited power without having to pay a price. The writers even confirmed that Rumple’s goal in S4 is not to get back his son.
But to me, this would be the most logical “AU” for his character.
Me too, me too. As a huge fan of the relationship between father and son, Baelfire not being the happy ending of Rumple anymore is the single most confusing, illogical and heartbreaking revelation yet. Rumple’s undergone this (d)evolution and I simply am just so saddened by it. The relationship between father and son was the most compelling part of Rumple’s character to me, and the loss of Baelfire is keenly felt not just by fans of Rumple but also by the actor who plays him.
