Honestly, I’m hoping for cancellation. I’ve been hoping for cancellation ever since they fist teased the rebooting the other month. This sounds horrible and it manages to sound even worse with every bit of new news that comes.
I totally get this sentiment but there’s one thing that making me hesitate. If these two people are–like Michael suggests–Henry and CS daughter then it means they show up at the end of 6 and announce (to the audience at the very least) that everyone is dead and they need to save the town/family/the future. And then…BOOM. Cancelled. I am more than ready for the show to be over but for it to end like that…oof. I don’t know what’s worse.
Which is why I hope that they film 2 endings. One like you said for a renewal and one which is a flash forward of Adult Henry reading the OuaT book to his daughter and ending with “And they all lived Happily Ever After” (like Alice did in OuaTiW).
I would hope its a FF to a happy future for Henry and CS daughter with everyone there and Henry reading the book to all the small kids. With all our leads watching.

The casting news is the only new real information and that could be anything at this point. I think there is no chance that they are going to age up the entire cast just to make an older Henry. If Henry is older then it is some time travel or whatever happened to Gideon. Though they just aged up Rumpel and Belle’s baby, it would be weird for them to do that again right away.
February 16, 2017 at 7:20 pm #333299hjbauParticipantI just don’t think the show can have a male lead. I don’t think that works. I think it is also just as likely that this character is Regina’s love interest and that the child is unconnected then that they are connected. With Jekyll and Hyde the connection was made in the casting news. I don’t know because this is so little information.

Yeah it’s pretty antithetical to the show as it’s been promoted since S1.
But I don’t know if the article means leading male as in “top billed” and “lead character” (a la Emma) or if it means a male character who will get a lot of story/screen time but still not be *the* lead (Hook and Rumple both qualify for this last one).
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"February 17, 2017 at 2:42 am #333303WickedRegalParticipantI honestly don’t know what to think about another love interest for Regina, especially after the whole True Love Daniel & Soul Mate Robin…like…if Robin was supposed to be “The One” destined since the beginning for her, is it even possible to have another true love?
Another reset, it’s gotta be another Dark Curse which could be cast by Gideon or someone else. It’d be too much trouble for Adam and Eddy to pull a whole “people from the future” move, and I highly doubt their storytelling skills to be capable of telling a story like that, without massive plot holes in between.
If it is another Dark Curse, I’m willing to lay ten cookies down that the adult male lead, is in fact an adult Prince Snowflake and the ten year old girl could either be an original character, his own daughter, or Emma’s daughter. S7 reset could be a parallel of Prince Snowflake/10 year old girl and S1 Emma/10 year old Henry.
And with the Dark Curse, no one ages. Concerning the chances of two leads leaving, I’d actually say there could be three. If Rumple’s gone, Adam and Eddy will have no idea what to do with Belle, so if Gideon is reverted back to baby form, she could possibly leave Storybrooke to raise him. And Zelena leaves with Baby Robyn to go back to Oz.
Season 7 Regulars:
JMo, Ginny, Josh, Lana, Colin, Jared, Adult Snowflake, 10 year old girl.

All this time, when the writers were saying they know how they want to end the show…….they should do whatever that is and forget about season 7. I don’t want to see a grown up Henry. I don’t want to see CS’s child. I want to see the current core characters we have finish their arcs properly.
But alas if I don’t get my wish, I will say these two new characters are two new people we don’t know. Could be from Disney lore or an original OUAT character (like Emma was). If they are going for a reboot, give me a friking reboot. Don’t give me aged up forms of characters I grew to love. Blah.

I doubt they’ll do aged up characters. Because that costs money and would be time consuming to do it every day. And this show is not going to have the budget to continue that every single day.
There is no way for this to be successful if these two are not connected to our present cast. It will bomb really really badly.

It’s true. It won’t do well if they aren’t connected to the show’s current cast. That’s why I’m hoping they bring them in at the end of season 6, and we find out they are connected to one or many of the core characters. What I don’t want is the aged up thing and I know they don’t have the budget for it….but what they can do is get a different actor to play a much older Henry and I don’t want that either. I want his story, along with all the other core characters’ stories, to come to an end. If they reboot it, reboot it with two new characters that get brought into it at the end of season 6 and continue the story through season 7. It won’t do well, but neither will a grown-up Henry or CS child etc.
February 17, 2017 at 4:13 pm #333312ry4christParticipantI’ve thought for a long time they needed to reboot the show if it were going to continue – after 3A could have worked. It seems like I’m in the minority here, but as long as A & E give any exiting characters a satisfying “happy ending,” I wouldn’t mind seeing an aged up Henry and his sister beginning brand new adventures. OUAT’s basic concept of putting twists on classic stories has almost an endless pool to draw from, and I think the show could still be interesting with a male lead. They can also keep any cast on and keep them the same age with magic, curses, etc. – this show has never shied away from having characters look younger than they really are through not aging because X,Y,Z. All this said, I realize A & E would have to create a very compelling brand new plot line to keep people watching, and I don’t know if they can/will do that.
February 19, 2017 at 12:00 pm #333351SlurpeezParticipantI think this is could be a time jump, and these new “characters” are adult Henry and his daughter. That sounds a lot like a reboot to me.
I agree that this casting call sounds like it’s for adult Henry and his own daughter, rather than for adult Henry and a hypothetical half-sister. Aside from Zelena and Regina, sibling relationships aren’t as central as the parent-child relationships on this show. A&E love their parallels, and making a seventh season be about a parent and a child parallels seasons one and two quite well. Henry taking up the mantel of Emma and his daughter being the child he falls in love with would be a strong parallel to Emma and Henry in the first season, which fans widely agree was the strongest season of the entire show. The casting call said the girl comes from a broken home, which sounds very similar to how Henry grew up. Even though Henry has always had Regina, he didn’t have either of his birth parents, and he never really got to know his father that well. Assuming Violet and Henry had a child when they were young and then split up, it sounds like Henry might have potentially missed out on years with his daughter. Thematically, Henry discovering he had a daughter or only just getting to spend time with her after a decade would parallel several family themes presented like Emma having to make up for lost time with Henry.
I’m not really sure how I feel about this potential reboot. Part of me thinks that the show just really needs to end in season six. On the other hand, if the show went the route of introducing Henry and his kid, it could go a long way to returning the show to its true roots if it picked up the theme of family reunions and reconciliation that was the emotional driving force of the first few seasons of OUAT.
