I think all of our main cast have carried their character journey well, and each of the characters have been integral to the stories we’ve had the pleasure to share.
I agree. I’ve enjoyed all of the actors who are part of the main cast.
Again, I trust the writers. I may not be happy when I see the spoiler, but I trust the integrity OUAT, and will continue to be spellbound until the story reaches it’s ultimate conclusion.
That is a very good point. The writers are here to tell a compelling story that they want to tell. I will accept whatever outcome and not cease watching. I’ve been here from the start and will be here until the end.
What if the person knew they were being killed off all along?
I think that’s very possible. Jamie Dornan, the actor who played the huntsman in S1, knew from the start he was only taking a job for 7 episodes, but the role really put him on the map. Now he’s starring in a big-time movie. I don’t mean to offend anyone, but exactly a year ago from today, Emma called Hook “dead guy of the year” when In the Name of the Brother first aired. I wonder if Colin O’Donoghue signed a 1-year contract knowing his character’s fate in advance. He is a talented actor, and this current fame he’s experiencing could help launch a film career in the US or in England. He would do well in whatever role he pursues.

Am I the only one who actually thinks that fact could be a reason he would want off the show? If they went home to Ireland for Christmas, and saw all their family properly for the first time since the baby was born, it may have hit home that everyone over there is missing out on seeing the kid’s start in life, and so Colin and Helen may well want to move back there for family reasons.
Maybe the buzz created from Once has meant he’s had an offer to be the lead in a new show back in/near his homeland, which means he could have both work and family.
I know we don’t know how much stock to put in the rumour that the person was unhappy, but honestly, when I first read those tweets the other day, Colin was the first person who came to mind, because if you’re playing Captain Hook, and during the NL arc of the story you only get ONE really intense scene with Peter Pan…that’s gotta be disappointing. If I’d been in Colin’s shoes, I’d have been expecting a whole lot more when I knew that the show was going to the land that my character is associated with. Spoilers that came out yesterday implied that they’re done with NL. If that’s really the case, and if Colin is aware of that, then he knows he’s not gonna get to portray Captain Hook in his NL heyday, interacting with Pan. And frankly, that would have to be a huge disappointment for him. You sign up to play Captain Hook, you expect that you’re gonna get to portray some kickarse stuff in NL with Pan. Maybe Kitswitz said they’re done with NL because Hook won’t be around much longer, so there’ll be no opportunity to go back and tell the NL story.
It would be incredibly sad if the “unhappy” rumour was about MRJ and the fandom hate. Honestly though, I think he’s the sorta guy who wouldn’t let a small faction of the fandom beat him down.
and what better way to stop the shipping wars by killing off either CS or SF.
Actually I think that would be the worst way for them to resolve it. Killing either of the guys off would be sort of a cop out.

It would be lazy writing. I don’t think either side wants that. But…at this point, short of death, how do you resolve fully? They could have Emma choose *insert name here* in 312 and the fandom wouldn’t be satisfied.

As far as him playing Captain Hook/Killian Jones, I don’t think he particularly cares about the mythos. He’s even said he likes playing a different take on Hook instead of the original one. His inspiration for Hook didn’t even come from past Hook’s it came from the dreaded Pirate Roberts from The Princess Bride.
Plus the media adores him and he’s like the go to marketing figure of OUAT.
I’m sure he’s perfectly content where he’s at right now.

Well it might not be Ireland. Many actors live in Vancouver and work all over the world. It’s closer to LA than Ireland. Meghan Ory lives there, even though her new show isn’t shot there after the pilot. So I think Phee is saying that moving to Vancouver isn’t necessarily a “I’m here to stay” sort of gig. Many actors also get houses in Vancouver and then have homes in other major cities for when they’re shooting.

That thought crossed my mind, too. Colin O’Donoghue has the talent, the looks, and the star-quality to make it big. He could star in films in the UK or abroad. And now that he and his wife have a new baby, they may want to move closer to their family. I could see Colin O’Donoghue starring in films produced in the UK, or being a big-time star on a successful BBC drama like Sherlock. Or he might just want to give Hollywood a go. I think he could try his hand at a film career like Jamie Dornan, Daniel Stevens, Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman or Richard Armitage. He has that kind of attractive British/Irish/Scottish appeal that draws fans worldwide.

Absolutely, and he made that sacrifice because OUAT is a great way to launch an international acting career. If you can make it big on a US primetime television network show, you could be very successful. He was always going to have to leave his band anyway, no matter what big break he got, if he seriously wanted to pursue acting. It just so happens that he his big break was in Canada. But he might’ve just seen it as a temporary stepping stone to something bigger.

While they didn’t seek out Colin, the same can be said for him. Colin was brought on in S2 to be a villain to match Rumple but they liked what they saw so upgraded him in the second half. So why do that and then kill him off.
And the same can be said for Belle. She was upgraded in S2 as well. Why do that and then kill her off at the end of S3?
This is why I am having a hard time believing that this death is story driven.

Pan’s story, that’s definitely done and I think Hook’s proved thus far and with the winter finale, there’s more story to tell with him coming up.

This happens with baseball players all the time. A ton of players for my Reds have houses or apartments somewhere in the Cincinnati area simply for convenience but if they get traded or retire or just don’t make the team for whatever reason, they have to be ready to move on a moment’s notice. I think acting is very similar in that there are no guarantees and you always have to be ready.
BTW-The only opinions I have tonight are these two: One, I don’t think the first death spoiler and the person supposedly who’s unhappy that the PA was talking about are this new death that was spoiled by TV Line. No idea why but I just have this feeling they aren’t the same thing. Two, I hope that PA gets fired for leaking out info like this because all it did was add fuel to what’s all ready a pretty big fire brewing in the fandom. She needs to keep her mouth shut and do her job. I feel like she tweets stuff just to get attention which is beyond not right. /end rant
