I have no interest in speculating on this anymore. It’s exhausting and every person is going to believe something different based on how they interpret the show.
But this is my question: how many of you will stop watching if it is your favorite character/second favorite character? (don’t cheat and come back with “but RG!! It won’t be my favorite character!!”)
Everyone knows my favorite character is officially out of the running but my second favorite character is getting a lot of “it’s him” and I find myself conflicted. I always imagine I was here for the long haul. And I probably will be. But I will be profoundly disappointed.
If it’s Belle, I might stop watching. Oh, I’d keep up on plotlines here to some extent, but … my heart wouldn’t be in it, you know? This presumes, of course, at Rumple is out there and they’ll be reunited. 🙂
If it’s Bae, who’s my favorite after Rumbelle … Sigh. I don’t know if I’d stop watching, but I’d be bitterly disappointed.
I’m going to throw my hat in the ring, however, and say that I think it will be Hook. Because I could see it being the most effective story for a few reasons. And to maximize the number of characters it affects, I think he’ll doing it saving … not Emma, but BAE.
That would make the most storytelling use of his death. It’s a gut punch for Emma, especially if he does for her sake. It’s a shocker for Bae/Neale, because I believe Hook’s been looking at him as a son of sorts for years because of Milha. (But the reverse was not true for Bae.) And for Rumble: What if one of his greatest enemies just made the ultimate sacrifice to save HIS son.
It’s true (in all fairness) that I don’t particularly care for the character of Hook (Colin cracks me up), but I also think it makes a lot of storytelling sense.

I may not like their choices, but I still want to find out how the story ends. Not that I wouldn’t be terribly upset if Belle were to die!
January 21, 2014 at 7:27 pm #239338GaultheriaParticipantI think there’s something sad about treasured objects that become so valued for sentimental reasons that they have to stay safely on the shelf where they can never again be useful. Favourite characters can become like that, just static things, frozen images. We might encase them in gold, but they’re still nothing more than statues if they don’t have something to do on-screen. I’d rather see a favourite character end well, like the Huntsman, than drift along.

January 21, 2014 at 7:50 pm #239341Jenna_BParticipantI wouldn’t stop watching. I’d sit back and see how it unfolds.
This was probably already brought up but I just haven’t gotten a chance to go through the thread – and all the other threads – – and chat – – !! to see…but here’s my thought on the whole situation.
Honestly, I’m not looking forward to a character death because of all the characters that are likely “on the chopping block,” (Hook, Belle, Nealfire) I was most looking forward to seeing what happened to them in the next half of the season. Regardless of ‘ship.
But let’s sit back and think for a minute. It’s kind of interesting that the spoiler was leaked now. The spin I feel like they’re trying to take is that they felt it was going to come out sooner than later so A&E wanted to get control of the spoiler so they were releasing the news on their terms. But this just happens to be –
Just when we’re about halfway through with the hiatus…
When a lot of other shows are entering or on their winter hiatus. Therefore a lot of other shows are getting talked about…
When there’s not much publicity-wise going on with OUAT (no TCA panel, no Paleyfest panel…) …
What’s going to get people talking (or having a giant nutty) more than an out-of-the-blue report about a major character death?! Hmmm! So the folks that watch are going to explode on social media – the casual viewer may see this and tune in. *cough* ratings *cough*. And those who don’t watch see people going bonkers and say to themselves, hmmm, I’m going to have to check that out *cough* ratings *cough*.
What an ingenious – and free! – marketing ploy! I know, that doesn’t make people feel better, but the thought did help me take the edge off. This is the nature of television. Bigger and better is necessary to stay afloat. And social media has completely changed the game when it comes to publicity for a show. And quite frankly, I don’t even trust A&E as far as I could throw either of them – plenty of things they’ve said in the past has either changed, not come to fruition, ended up playing out a completely different way…
so really. We should just relax, sit back and see what happens. I mean, yeah, am I going to be a lil sad if my hottie pirate’s not around every week for me to swoon over? Sure. But I’m not going to boycott if it ends up being Hook that bites the dust. Even if “your” character dies, give the show a chance to explain where they’re going. They may surprise you.
January 21, 2014 at 7:58 pm #239343kfchimeraParticipantI had a 4 way tie according to the sorter. Emma, Neal, Belle and Rumple. I like Belle, but I would have picked Snow before her and Rumple.
I think it depends on who it is and how does the plot shift and characters change in their relationships to each other? Will I feel like rooting for them? Is it a death that conveniently avoids dealing with plot points so certain things can be erased from the story like GOAT and Tamara’s taser, never to be mentioned again? Will it leave plot holes and unanswered questions of why?
Mainly I started watching because I love fairytales in general, the idea of twists on them, and costume eye candy. I love the clothes and set design (and the cast is so easy on the eyes, aren’t they?). I came to these forums after searching for theories on who the curse was Whale? (Frankenstein….clever!)

January 21, 2014 at 8:21 pm #2393453princessesParticipantI will definitely keep watching no matter what. For me, the story is important. At this point, they have several episodes (probably 11 ) to move the story along until the character’s death. I may be upset by the death at the time, but I will keep watching & trust for a Happy Ending for the rest of the characters.
January 21, 2014 at 8:40 pm #239346rumbelledearieParticipantI feel like if Belle were to die I’d seriously consider not watching, mainly because Rumbelle is the reason I got hooked on the show in the first place. Not that I don’t love the other characters, Neal and Emma (individually as well as together), but Rumple and Belle really got me hooked emotionally to the show. So if one of them were to die I’d consider not watching anymore. But I really don’t see it being her.
I’ll be VERY disappointed if it’s Neal, I love his storyline (not the triangle) and I really want to see how his relationship with Rumple progresses. But I wouldn’t stop watching if he were the one to go.
Hook is the character I’d be the least upset about (although I really love Colin). He’s definitely entertaining and fun to watch but there hasn’t been enough to grab me emotionally as far as his storyline. It would still be sad though as he’s a colorful character and they could do more with him than some triangle (same for Neal and Emma).

He’s definitely dead,” executive producer Edward Kitsis says. But I mean, come on, this is a show about magic! “He went into that knife, it looked like death to me, but he’s the Dark One,” he adds. Sounds like he’s not dead just yet.
I wonder if someone has to sacrifice their life to bring back Rumple?

Um, dead is dead…….so if he’s dead, they shouldn’t bring him back……..Oh and this pisses me off because he shouldn’t be the DO know; that should have broken his curse.
UGH
Also, why is there a photo of Emilie in this article when she’s not even mentioned? Oh god……….bad bad feeling
