I remember they did that for Sex and the City. They filmed multiple endings and the fans were left wondering, what’s the real one?
In other words: TRUST NOTHING.

What if that’s the point–not to trust anything? We’re supposed to get a “compelling” new storytelling method in the second half of S3. What if we get side-ways story telling a la “Sliding Doors” starring Gwyneth Paltrow? That way we get to see two different outcomes given a character’s different choices. What if this final death is a true death, but only as an alternative reality? We may get to see what it would be like if someone did X and Y results and then later get to see what it would be like if that same person did Xprime and Z resulted instead. I’m not sure I’m explaining this very well, but I thought I’d put it out there.

January 21, 2014 at 10:59 pm #239388PheeParticipantI get what you’re getting at, slurpeez. But the way they worded the spoiler, it sounds like a real time, dead is 100% dead situation to me.
January 21, 2014 at 11:09 pm #239390RumplesGirlKeymasterI like the overall idea, Slurpeez. And it’s sorta LOST-esque where they had the flashsideways which on the surface seemed like it was a giant ALT reality for all involved (what they really were was something totally different).
But like Phee said the way the article is written with a series regular departing for good, it sounds like the death is for sure.

I admit that it sounds like (even if it’s not a redo of Eurdyice/Orpheus) that Gold does go to some “other world” (and I don’t mean “land”) and the Underworld sounds as good as any (though of course, he should be in the Elysian Fields).
Oh, I’m sure Adam and Eddy are familiar with Greek mythology. We’ve already heard mention of chimeras, Medussa, Midas, and Jason’s golden fleece. I think that Gold may only be mostly dead, just as Philip was only mostly dead in 2×1. Plus, Rumple was immortal when he “died” so instead of a final death, it was just the undoing of his dark one-ness. This is where I think Aurora and Philip come into play. Techincally, Philip’s soul was removed from his body. Cora told Aurora that when a wraith consumes a soul, it travels to “another realm.” In 3×1, Aurora alluded to the fact that she had learned to travel other worlds while asleep, which is a consequence of being put under the sleeping curse. It’s possible that Aurora will advise Belle how to save Rumple. And we know that Aurora was able to save Philip and both survived, since we saw them both in 3×1.
Good point about the other mythological references.
I’m still very nervous……and I really hate this

Well to be fair Adam & Eddy have been pulling Greek Mythology into Once Upon A Time Tales so it’s possible we could see Hades, etc

Is Rumplestiltskin really dead on Once Upon a Time? —Tamryn
“He’s definitely dead,” executive producer Edward Kitsis says. But I mean, come on, this is a show about magic! “He went into that knife, it looked like death to me, but he’s the Dark One,” he adds. Sounds like he’s not totally dead just yet."That’s how you know you’ve really got a home. When you leave it, there’s this feeling that you can’t shake. You just miss it." Neal Cassidy

Well I meant that I hate the death, I hate worrying about Belle, I hate Eddy saying Gold is dead (unless he means the DO, but who knows ? I have to remember that Eddy says ridiculous things most of the time)…….
It’s sad that so many people have to worry about their favorite character

Kitsis says -“HE is definitely dead… HE is the Dark One” – so its just the Dark One thats dead, like many have also already predicted. And Rumplestiltzkin lives 🙂
January 22, 2014 at 1:48 am #239408Marty McFlyParticipantI think someone will have to sacrifice himself for a swap. in other words, someone will be willing to die so that Rumpelstiltskin will become undead.
there are only two people in the world who’d be willing to do that: Bae and Belle.
so maybe Bae decides to do that and Hook finds out, and because Hook loves Bae, he will take his place. I think that would be the biggest redemption for Hook, because if he just dies for Emma it would be meaningless. after hurting the floof family so many times in so many ways, it would be interesting to see him sacrifice himself for the one person that he was obsessed about killing for centuries.
