Simply carrying a tune does not qualify you as being able to sing. And please I couldn’t even handle the amount of embarrassment to see Regina rapping. She can’t sing.
Well no one else in the cast is a Whitney Houston or Michael Jackson…so the lack of professional singing talent isn’t an issue. Pretty much the whole cast, except Colin, are in the same boat. As for Regina rapping, I don’t see the Evil Queen as the type to skip through flower fields and sing “Someday My Prince Will Come”, so rapping or a more hip hop tune could be in the realm of possibility for the Queen.
The only cast member who actually had a singing career was Sean Maguire, but we know Robin probably won’t stick around past episode 15. Geez, there could’ve been a brilliant Merry Men song/dance sequence, but there goes that dream.

February 13, 2017 at 10:28 pm #333212TheWatcherParticipantLana sounds fine. I actually see Regina singing a song similar to the one used in that one promo:
It kinda sounds like her.
Either way, they’ve got time to get vocal lessons and there is always the power of technology to help out on the ones who need it. I think if the cast were extremely musically inept, then this would not be happening at all. I have confidence that even if the songs are not great, they will do every thing in their power to make the cast sound acceptable. I’m more worried about the songs than I am the singing personally.

Unless Lana outright refused, then they’re going to do whatever it takes to have her sing. The fact that the Evil Queen’s lair is listed among the scenes to include singing, I think it’s a safe bet that she will sing.

Which is gonna be a horrendous autotuned mess. Lana’s even said she can’t sing so it makes no sense why she would be singing in a musical episode. Unless it’s talking singing. Hopefully it’s just one song.
I hope Emma gets some solos since she’s the titular character of the show.

Well, how about at least watching the episode before jumping to such strong conclusions? As @MP said, lots of people will want to hear her sing and as @TheWatcher said, they will do everything in their power to make the cast sound acceptable.

As I said…no one on the show is superstar level of singing! We shouldn’t even have the expectation to hear the cast belt out an Adele or John Legend like voice, but I’m positive the recording crew will have them ready to give their best performance. And it definetly does make sense to have Lana, whose not only a leading character but one of the many fan favorites, to have a song.
Now that its official, what type of songs would you want to see Regina/EQ sing? 🎤🎶 https://t.co/Gx110j1xQU

Regina is the secondary lead if anyone is on this show, so i imagine she will have to sing just like Emma will. Usually everyone ends up being part of the group numbers anyways.

@Michael and others
I LOVE Regina and the EQ and Lana P (and she is so talented with acting, dancing and some sports) but I too have reservations about her ability to pull of even an average effort with the help of technology. Some of the others, in particular the men, sing very well, and Emma/Jen is very good too, but I think with Lana it will be a struggle.
However, I think if they kept all her songs within range of Lana Del Ray, Betty Middler’s lower notes for ” I put a spell on you” Nina Simone in general and Catherine Zeta Jones in Chicago (and I think Susan Sandron sang a song at some point in the lower range?) then she will be fine. A little off-key or a weak tone on some of the notes might also suit the character, just like Russell Crowe in Les Miserables.
I’ve got a feeling that they will have the EQ do lower-range songs and Regina higher-range ones, though 🙁
Nevertheless, whatever the outcome, I will respect her and applaud her for giving her best effort in something that she knows she is weak at. Fingers-crossed it is not a career-breaker for her (though I have read she wants to set up her own production company after OUAT).
Keeper of Regina's bravery
