This all but confirms that Aladdin and Jasmine will play zero role in how the series shakes down at the end of this season. They will be done once their episode is over. I think they had a much bigger plan for Jafar and Jasmine and Aladdin but once they realized their show was likely going down the tubes, they needed start wrapping things up. And they knew they wanted to get the Black Fairy into the show, and they knew they wanted a musical episode as well. So the Aladdin characters got the shaft. Pity. Let me clarify, I’m not upset that we are getting a musical episode or that we are getting the Black Fairy. I’m upset that they didn’t incorporate these things last season so that we could focus more on Aladdin and company this year instead of rushing to include everyone before the show ends. Would have rather had a half season of Jafar and Aladdin and Jasmine and Agrabah then the UW with Hades, or Camelot, or Elsa and the Snow Queen. They clearly thought they had more time and now they are rushing.

“We actually started [planning] this around September,” Kitsis explained to ET over the phone last Friday. “There are these two composers that we met, Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, who are big fans of the show, and ABC put us together with them because a musical is the one thing and the one request that fans have been asking for for six seasons.”
“It’s something we’re very excited about and we’ve been working on for a long time,” Horowitz concurred. “What we’ve also worked really hard to do is make this musical a part of the show, so it’s not just like a one-off episode or it’s not just like a stand-alone [special].”
“It actually is a huge part of the mythology of the show and there are some big things that happen in the episode,” Hororwitz revealed. “Frankly, it’s been one of the challenges of doing the musical because we never wanted to do something where it was just like a to-the-side, one-off thing, and then get back to the main story. We want to see it part of the main story, which meant we had to really plan out this season with some great detail.”
Kitsis added, “And what’s fun about it is it’s the penultimate episode [of season six,] so the musical actually kicks us off into the finale.”

They wrote the Broadway musical First Date, the Disney Cruise ship show Twice Charmed, and they even wrote the songs that Celestina Warbeck sings at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios. More info on them here on their website: http://zacharyandweiner.com/about/.

YASSSSSSSSS. So we know Emma gets a solo and Zelena gets a solo.
I guarantee at least one lyric in her song will be a shout out to the musical wicked.

So I think so far we have confirmed:
Emma (Solo)
Regina, Snow White & David (Group)
Hook, Pirates (Group)
Zelena (Solo)

Yeah I agree. I doubt we’ll see them after their centric in “A Wonderous Place.”
As a WL fan, it ticks me off even more that they went and recast Naveen as Jafar given that he was used so little in A and is now free in 6B after Sense8.
because a musical is the one thing and the one request that fans have been asking for for six seasons.”
So this sorta confirms something I’ve been saying for a bit: Adam and Eddy basically have a checklist of frequently asked/requested things (Rumple’s mom, the Black Fairy, the musical) and are trying to get through as many of them as they can because they know their time is up.

Slightly horrified to learn that they don’t, apparently, plan out each season with great detail…
Also, if this season has been planned out in great detail then….um.

What? But isn’t the musical episode 620? Thought they had 22 episodes, this seems like 621 is the last episode, and not 622, did they had a episode cut number? Or this is the same they did some seasons ago, where they count one episode as 1, but then said was 2, and then said again was a 2 hour episode, and then was a confusion of when was episode 100, because i must say besides U.S., in the rest of the world, episode 100 was on 511 and not 512 as they said, since in the rest of the world they air one episode per night in channels or in streaming, they don`t have a 2 hours episodes.
