Are Once Upon a Time‘s Rumpelstiltskin and Belle ever going to be together again? –Ann
Or, does the pursuit of power come with a price? When I invited the series creators to take us inside Rumple’s mad-for-magic mindset, Eddy Kitsis explained, “Rumple let us know in Season 1 that he’s a difficult man to love. And he’s let us know that he always chooses power over love, that is his fault. But he began the season with honorable intentions — he really was going to give Belle the knife – but when he saw the [Sorcerer’s] hat, that made him realize, ‘I did the noble thing and it ended up with my son dying and me being a slave. So if I can never have to wake up and worry about someone getting my dagger, why can’t I have everything?’ And as he learned, you can’t.” But to more directly answer your Q, Adam Horowitz offers this: “Rumple and Belle] have been through a lot together, and despite how it may have felt in the midseason finale, their story is not over.”[adrotate group="5"]January 7, 2015 at 4:44 pm #294563PriceofMagic

ParticipantWe don’t know what the rest of the season will look like, but I’m curious, is there really any real hope for rumbelle at all?
Rumple lied to Belle (repeatedly) and used her as an alibi for murder…All of those are unforgivable actions. There’s an episode called The Unforgiven in 4B.
I used to ‘ship it hard once but now, I think, Belle would be much better off without Rumple, or if Rumple still wants to be with her, he has to really, truly prove that he has changed.
We know the only way for Rumple to lose his dark one magic is either via true love’s kiss, or someone kills him. Personally, I think the only way Rumple can truly change is to find a logical way to truly give up his powers altogether. No loopholes, nothing. Just give it up. He can’t still expect to keep his powers and Belle’s love at the same time.
If he hasn’t stilled learned his lesson in 4B, then I say, lost cause. He still has not learned anything at all.

Honestly I think there is always hope to repair any relationship, if both parties are willing to work on the issues. I agree that one of issues they need to work on is Rumple’s lust of power. Rumple goal’s of releasing the dagger hold on him was by no means a terrible idea, especially coming out of Wicked. Where he was a Wicked Witches’ slave for half the season, and how that can inspire his objectives . At the same time I can also acknowledge that the tactics he chose in trying to reaching it was awful, and that I hope that he has learned that it is better take a loss than to achieve an honorless victory. If not than it would be pretty difficult for this reunion to occur, but not impossible. I can argue that this ship is a lost cause he doesn’t learn to communicate with Belle during the second half. The reason why this separation occur was because he wasn’t honest or communication with Belle. It is pretty difficult to maintain a relationship if it is lacking these two elements.

ParticipantNobody talks to each other. The characters say words to each other but nobody ever TALKS. I watch Grimm, too, and that is a show with action, plot and yet they talk to each other. There is still subterfuge and plotting, but at least there are heartfelt moments. Too many of Rumbelle’s and other character’s interactions on the show happen “off screen”. That needs to stop and my biggest gripe about the show.
I still love Rumbelle, I do, but I’ve realized that I love it more in fanon than on the actual show. It’s long past time that Rumple’s curse needs broken. Flat out, no cleaving (stop cringing RG) or trying to maintain power but a true break of the curse. I can really see no true future for them without the curse being broken.

I agree. I don’t watch Grimm but Heroes, I watched. That was an action drama, almost every season but characters still took the time to talk to each other about their problems. I think a balance between talking and action can exist on Once, the problem now is that A&E get so wrapped up in the story for 11 episodes that talking is a rare thing. Belle and Rumple had Family Business and that moment in the shop but after that, no mention of it again because the story focused on what was going on with the Snow Queen.

I agree with this too.
