KeymasterQuestion: I loved the Once Upon a Time season finale. Could they be doing Narnia next season? If not, I’m surprised by the name Lucy. But I could totally be reading too much into it. —David
Ausiello: Looks like you answered your own question at the end there, David. Matt Mitovich asked the Once creators if there is anything to be gleaned from the naming of Henry’s daughter, and they came back with a decisive “no.”

ModeratorNot surprised. Narnia is still protected under copyright, and Disney doesn’t even have the film rights anymore.

KeymasterAs someone else pointed out, I suspect they got the name Lucy just because it means “light”

ParticipantAm I the only one who didn’t want Narnia on OUAT? I confess I never read the books, but I didn’t really like the movies except for the first one. And even then, they already did a season about a snow queen. I don’t want to see another season where the villain is the white witch (basically another snow queen). I think the time to bring in Narnia and the white witch was season 4a when they brought Elsa on the show. But the last thing I want now is for OUAT to travel to Narnia.

ParticipantNarnia has too much depth to be done by Ouat. There is too much great world building and like deep philosophical things going on to be done by Ouat. All those things are what is good about Narnia and what was wrong with the movies was a lot of that being left out and any hint to Narnia on Ouat would only be superficial like names and such, and therefore disappointing.
I am glad it is still under copyright, which is i think the life of the author plus 70 years. I think CS Lewis died the same day as JFK, so that gives us at least another 16 years of safety for Narnia before it can be ruined by other things and Ouat will safely be long gone by then.
Emma going through a wardrobe to another land was a nod to Narnia. I think Lucy was too, but they aren’t going to do Narnia.

I think they could have found some way to make Ingrid the white witch, or reveal that Elsa BECOMES the white witch. I agree that the time for Narnia as an arc has passed but I wouldn’t mind a few more shout outs and nods to it. Like we’d find out the bow snow whites owns is actually the one Susan (or was it Lucy?) was given by Santa. It never misses too. Or we find out that Gepetto (or Geppetto’s papa) constructed the original wardrobe to Narnia.
Just some stuff like that. I flippin’ love Narnia."I could have the giant duck as my steed!" --Daniel Radcliffe

KeymasterEh. I’m with HJ and DarkOneDearie on this one. Leave Narnia alone. I flippin’ love it too and that’s why I want A and E to just leave it be. Knowing those guys, they’d make Jadis the White Witch out to be sympathetic because a guy broke her heart and so she turned everything to winter to match her cold and unloving heart and turn Aslan into a morally ambiguous hero who makes bad choices for good reasons.
I already have a book series/TV show that takes Narnia mythology and dirties it up. The Magicians is doing just fine so A and E can just just move right on along.

And like others have mentioned, we sorta already got her via Elsa and Ingrid. It’s very possible that C.S. Lewis took inspiration from Hans Christian Andersen’s Snow Queen, as there are plenty of similarities between the White Witch and the Snow Queen.

Yeah, exactly. I just love Narnia. The books are amazing. Adam and Eddy are terrible writers and have no clue how to twist stories anymore, so just stay away. I definitely think they could have done things a lot better with like having objects like susan’s bow would have been interesting. They tried to do that with the dark one dagger by making it Excalibur, but then it was the holy grail too which was like eh that is a little weird. I think they needed to create a mythology like that, like where the lamp post came from in Narnia or how the mice started to talk, or where the wardrobe came from, all that deep world building which is pretty amazing for pretty short books and how the beginning and the end connect.
