Almost a year to the day that Once Upon a Time surpised viewers with a parting glimpse of Queen Elsa, the ABC series this Sunday will uncork another top-secret season-ending scene.
But unlike a year ago, this filmed-in-secrecy twist won’t introduce any familiar fairy tale face but a different kind of surprise element, one that will have repercussions for Season 5.

Does Jafar count? Technically if you never watched WL, you don’t know who Naveen is playing?

Hmm. “Different kind of surprise element” could be the dark one dagger with Emma’s name written on it?

I know it’ll be near the end, but just always knew there would be at least something else before fading to black. Considering that dagger scene was filmed out in the open, that doesn’t sound like the secret final scene.
Also, really don’t know about Jafar now. They said it won’t be a “familiar fairy tale face” not a “familiar OUAT face”, which I think rules him out. They also said before that the ending won’t be a “new villain/new realm” twist, but more along the lines of the end of Season 1, where the changing condition was Rumple bringing magic into Storybrooke.

Possibly, though the entire stabby scene was filmed outdoors and has gotten out, something A and E are claiming hasn’t happened. Unless the final scene is a close up of the dagger with Emma’s name on it and then seeing Emma being “reborn” as the Dark One

If you re-watch the video and the filming reports, Emma doesn’t stab herself. I don’t know where some people are getting that, but that’s not what I saw happen. What I saw happen was Emma just raising the dagger in the air and disappearing.

I assumed there was a stab scene in there….? Or I thought people were saying that. Because how else would she become the Dark One
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 6, 2015 at 5:46 pm #304032RumplesGirlKeymasterAlso, possible that they did the outdoor stuff and then moved inside for the actual stabbing if there needs to be some sort of visual effects? I dunno. With Rumple and Malcolm, they put up barriers to prevent the audience from seeing that Rumple is supposed to vanish. It just doens’t make sense for Emma to become the new Dark One and not have to stab herself.

Eddy already said they’re not introducing new characters, so Jafar’s out.
Kitsis: We’re not introducing any new characters [in the finale], we’re just changing the condition of the town.

But you don’t become the Dark One by stabbing yourself with the dagger. You have to stab the current Dark One. Though according to how Emma says “the dagger needs to be attached to someone”, it seems the dagger is currently nameless in that scene. Which means either Rumple already died without being stabbed, or he was freed from the curse. Anyway, here’s the video and two of the detailed set reports. Nothing about Emma stabbing herself:
