Snow is my first choice for this. It would be really heartbreaking to watch: her wanting to adopt this little boy without knowing that it is her own grandson.
Same with Rumple, but I don’t think that is how Gold operated.

Says Kitsis, “You’ll see how they’re going to deal with each other and with Emma in, I think, a surprising way.”
I’m hopeful that Hook will respect his son-figure, Neal, enough to back down. I’m guessing both Neal and Hook will agree to give Emma the space she needs to work through what she wants for herself.
But what you may find surprising is who almost adopted wee Henry instead.
I’m betting that Mr. Gold almost unwittingly adopted his own grandson! I can’t wait to see Mr. Gold and Regina holding baby Henry!

I don’t think that Hook should have to back down to show that he cares for Bae or has grown as a person. From Hook’s perspective Neal was engaged less than a week to another woman and he knows that Neal left Emma. To lots of people and especially someone like Hook, that does not look/sound/feel like true love. Hook is serious romantic who would never leave his true love or would become engaged with someone he didn’t love. Even after Neal met Emma again Neal chose to stay with Tamara. I don’t think that Neal can now play the ” Emma is my true love” card and expect to be taken seriously even if he means it now. His actions have spoken for themselves.
hook has spent 300 years grieving for a woman and he’s finally met someone who makes him feel hope and alive, someone who makes him want more out of life. Neal would be supremely selfish to ask/expect Hook to give that all up, especially when Bae had so fully and completely rejected Hook when Hook tried to create a family with him. This does not excuse what Hook did — handing Bae over to Pan. I also want to note that Hook is not breaking up Neal’s family. Neal and Emma are not together, so he is not a home wrecker at least in this scenario (it’s debatable in the Milah Rumple scenario).
At he end of the day, it is Emma’s choice and neither man should choose for her.
Keeper of Hook and Emma's smoldering first kiss, a certain Pirate's sauciness, the Evil Queen's snarkiness, Grumpy's gruffness and a drop of true love to make it all go down smooth.

Nicely put and to the point!!!
November 26, 2013 at 9:08 pm #226530RumplesGirlKeymasterI suspect the deal reached between the two will be “we are not going to pester her. We are going to let her choose when she is ready.” That is the adult, mature, respectful thing to do. No matter how much individuals may argue for any side, it’s Emma’s chose. End of story.

While this will break me into a thousand pieces and I’ll never ever freaking recover, I don’t know if that is how Mr. Gold operated in SB. We’ve never really seen him as Mr. Gold, except for the tiniest hint in Welcome to SB. If he was defined in FTL as a father looking for his son, then his Curse personality is probably a man who doesn’t know what to do with kids, has no need for them.

Amen!!

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass
November 26, 2013 at 10:39 pm #226544PheeParticipantGod, please let the deal be: “let’s let Emma choose and not be adolescent teenager falling all over ourselves in an attempt to woo her”
*praying for this*
Hm, not so sure about counting Pan out. We do not know what made Henry’s heart so special. It could be his upbringing, but it could be just lineage. The writers say one thing but then the show says others. Pan has not really talked about Regina, just bloodllines.
I think Pan can be counted out just because newborn Henry wouldn’t have been much use if he needed him to believe in him so much that he’d rip out his own heart and give it to him. Even if Henry’s heart was inherently magical from birth, it wouldn’t have been of use at that stage. Pan needed Henry to grow up, under particular conditions in an environment closed off from the rest of the world, so he’d be ripe for the picking when he time came.
As for who almost adopted Henry instead, I’d say MM is the best bet, though I can’t completely rule out Mr Gold. Rumple was willing to just start a new family with Cora, so perhaps it crossed his mind, even for a moment, to keep baby Henry. Perhaps that longing for a son was still buried in there somewhere, even when he didn’t have his memories in order to fully understand what that emotion was about.
I do think Pan is underestimating Regina. He never loved his child, and it probably seems impossible to love someone else’s child so much to a guy like Malcolm/Pan. Even more so for what Pan would think about the “Evil Queen”, with Henry being the genetic progeny of her two most hated rivals–and yet she has curious sort of bond with those rivals (Snow and Rumple). She respects Emma on some level too, and all of this feeds in to a Regina that is probably going to surprise Pan. Or so I hope!
Agreed! Pan probably can’t even fathom how an adoptive parent could love a child, when he couldn’t even love his own bio child.

Agreed Pan is out.

I think both MM and Gold are going to get a little moment with baby Henry. Just to kill us all.
