That’s possible, though I think the capital G means that the spoiler writers is thinking in terms of GOD (he of the long beard, shiny clouds, omnipotent, omniscient, Judeo-Christian GOD) and not god–as in Zeus, ect. So he’s GOD like in that the DG will be powerful, scary, and possibly act like he belongs on a shiny cloud. Not god-like as in, not really divine.
However, I’d love for Hades and Dr. Facilier to be on the same team.
And for what it is worth, Dr. Facilier is largely based on Baron Samedi who is one of the Loa in Voodoo (the top hat gives him away) responsible for the dead.

What if the casting call isn’t actually for Hades, but for Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog? He does have the appearance of a Distinguished Gentleman:
Now the one thing in the casting call that does lean more towards Hades is that he’s a “God-like figure.” However, that in itself could mean that perhaps it’s not Hades, because Hades is a full on God, rather than God-like. Facilier does have his own magic via his “friends from the other side”, AKA spirits from the after life. Now chances are, this will still end up being Hades, but I felt I should at least present Facilier as another possibility. I still think we could be getting both Hades and Facilier anyway, due to Facilier’s ties to the afterlife.
That’s an interesting theory, though I would’ve thought if it was facilier, they would’ve specified they wanted an African-American actor. The cast of Princess and the frog are the only black characters in the Disney verse so to start turning them white would raise some eyebrows especially Tiana.
And for what it is worth, Dr. Facilier is largely based on Baron Samedi who is one of the Loa in Voodoo (the top hat gives him away) responsible for the dead.
Whenever I hear the name Baron Samedi, I just think of the James Bond film Live and Let Die which has a great theme song.

Keeper of FelixOctober 26, 2015 at 3:00 pm #310940TheWatcherParticipant@POM Well this isn’t a casting call, they are just reporting they are in the process of casting this character. For all we know, the specifications of the role could be for an African American person. But I could be wrong *shrug*
I think it being Facillier could be a possibility. I see him as being more distinguished than Hades (hey what if DG actually stands for Death God :P) but I am still sure its hades though.
I do hope we see Facillier next season. And Jafar. Maybe someone has Scar as a pet? :3

Princess and the Frog and Aladdin are the only “big” Disney princesses they’ve not done yet.
Hercules and Hunchback of Notre Dame should also be on the list but that might be too religious for Once’s tastes.

Except it looks like Hades is coming in 5B, and we’ve already had Poseidon as a Greek deity before. If Hades is around, I wouldn’t be surprised if Hercules makes some sort of appearance too.
October 27, 2015 at 10:29 pm #311126TheWatcherParticipantI really hope they do bring in Dr. Facillier and the Princess And the Frog gang. I think it’ll be quit ribbiting.
Get it?
Yes. I came here just to say that pun.

Ooh, good point! Although I also think that we’re going with Hades. Doc Facilier’s connection to Charon and the Furies would be tenuous at best. Also, Facilier is more of a trickster figure (much like Rumplestiltskin, with the same sort of wheeling and dealing function) rather than a God-like figure. The casting news talks about a “Devil” character — I think Facilier is at the imp level of the evil totem pole. ^-^

LOL. Now I’m just picturing an office version of Hell where Facilier is trying to work his way up from imp to middle-management.

Hah! Actually, have you ever read Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s Good Omens? One of the protagonists is this imp-like character struggling with, among other things, Hell’s outdated and cumbersome bureaucracy. Your comment reminded me of it — highly recommend it, it’s very silly and riotously funny. 🙂

(seconds this recommendation)
(recommends anything by Gaiman)
(also Pratchett)
