I guess it’s all in the eyes of the beholder, these doesn’t seem enough to me to offset the fact that Bae’s characterization resembles little to nothing of what one would expected from Peter Pan; he’s not boastful, careless or cocky and he doesn’t strike me as someone who would have leadership skills.
But we haven’t seen yet how Bae behaved while he was in NL. We’ve seen him before, we’ve seen him after, but we don’t know how the character behaved and evolved during his time in NL.
When he left FTL, he was a scared, angry, alone, teenaged boy. I could see a kid in that position get careless and cocky, especially if he wanted to be a brave hero type, the opposite of how he perceived his father. And then whatever transpired during all those years in NL could have affected him in such a way that he changed again and became the man we see in Neal. I think that making Nealfire be Pan opens up all sorts of possibilities and would give us a wonderfully layered character with a fascinating evolution of epic proportions.

I think he is going to spend time with hook when he first gets to NL and that’s where he will develop the traits that we commonly see out of Peter Pan, since that is hooks attitude as well. I firmly believe, from the set pics, that bae came to our world the same time hook did with some of the lost boys and he went to NL with them.

Fair enough. Truthfully, though, I think Neal has enough on his plate with him being Rumple’s son, Henry’s father and Emma’s love interest; he doesn’t need to be Pan to be a more well-rounded character.
My biggest beef about the theory, however, is really that it’d downgrade his relationship with Emma, which as a SwanFire shipper I think of as true love, to a Peter Pan/OC one. Peter and Wendy are usually portrayed as a young but true love that never lasts because Peter is incapable of comprehending growing up is a part of life, I’d think Wendy’d be the one he’d want to be with should he ever be portrayed as an adult, one of her descendants being the next best thing (hello, 1991’s Hook). For me to be even remotely okay with Bae being Peter they’d have to do some very convolutely storytelling to show us that Emma IS Wendy, which given the show’s timeline is quite unlikely.
April 9, 2013 at 10:32 am #185255gypsyParticipantLike I said, it the the Untold Stories Facebook game that gave it away for me.
Yeah there were a few clues in the app…..including the ‘Blonde/Blond’ patient.
There was also a clue in S1 “The Shepherd”.Wow really, well I’m sorry. I thought it was clear from a while back, way before the promo for episode 5.
Yeah, like I said, me and TheGoldenKey had a theory about it nearly 2 months beforehand 😆

I have had this discussion with my husband and we have come to the conclusion in original P.P. and Disney P.P, he was never really in love with anyone. He was 14 years old. He gave the mermaids and tink the same amount of attention and affection as Wendy. Yes in different ways, but I don’t see him showing favor to any one girl. There were things about Wendy (mothering, stories, etc) that he held dear to his heart, just as Tink (BFFs, long history)i. IMO, I don’t think there was ever a time originally where Wendy was intentionally portrayed as his true love. I am a hardcore SwanFire shipper and it doesn’t ruin it for me because I haven’t over-thought or fantasized him and Wendy’s (or him and Tink’s, or him and Tiger Lily’s ,or him and the mermaids’) relationships. Ive just taken them for what they are. I understand diving into other stories and such but for me I have never come to that conclusion personally.
This would sound way better. But I’m on my phone and the way the scrolling works on this board on mobile is such a pain so I can’t really go back and edit accordingly and make it smooth 😉My husband says it best: “He was a rock star and they all crushed on him.”
Keeper Nealfire's/Bae's scarf, Henry and Neal's bribery ice cream sundae, Baelfire's sword, the coconut map, and more.
April 9, 2013 at 1:22 pm #185265CrownedWithLaurelsParticipantP.s. (too hard to edit on my phone and I’m in a hurry)
P.P./Bae being in NL for +- 300 years explains the characteristics to me, although I thought he was Pan when he went through the portal in “The Return”, partly due to his characteristics being like Pan.
As far as the whole Moraine thing goes, she believed in him. She told him a story about the Blue Star/BF. I find all the parallels with her and Wendy very intriguing. Wish I had more time to sit and dwell on this stuff all day haha!

I agree! I don’t see Peter and Wendy as romantically linked, at least in the initial depiction of the friendship. She was a mother figure to the Lost Boys who had forgotten what that meant and she was a storyteller which is what intrigued Peter. Perhaps later stories, like Hook where Wendy grew up and eventually Peter left NL to be with her granddaughter and the like did try to establish something like that but it was in the original (and Hook isn’t a Disney film so they don’t have the rights to it, though they could play with the themes behind it). I don’t think Neal being Pan ruins Swanfire at all.

This is exactly what i was thinking. Given the amount of MOMMY ISSUES some of these characters have, I think that might be the clue to determining who Pan is.
Pan was interested in love with Wendy, he brought her to NL to be a mother – to make pockets and tell stories.
Baelfire has mommy issues. Henry has double mommy issues (though i hope his beef with Emma is settled).
If being the Pan is like a position in Neverland, I’m thinking Henry will be the next Pan like his father before him.
April 9, 2013 at 3:10 pm #185278PriceofMagicParticipantHook has some sort of mommy issues because every woman he flirts with is a mother.
He told Rumple that he has had “many a man’s wife”.- Since there was no contraception in FTL, it is very likely that once a woman became a wife, she’d become a mother soon after.
Milah- Bae’s mother.
Emma- Henry’s mother.
Snow- Emma’s mother.
Cora- Regina’s mother (Hook attempted to flirt but Cora shot him down)
Regina- Henry’s motherThe only woman Hook hasn’t flirted with is Belle. This could be because of her connection and loyalty to Rumple or because she isn’t a mother.
All magic comes with a price!
