Can I please, please, please get some Once upon a Time info on Belle, and Rumple? Possibly Neal, too? –Karen
I’ve already told you about Belle’s plan, and while Rumple’s fate isn’t explored much in the midseason premiere, watch for Episode 13 to dive deeper into that mystery. As for Neal, he is not taking his latest separation from Emma and Henry well, at all. As cocreator Eddy Kitsis explained, “In a lot of ways Neal finds himself in a similar position that his father did, which is: I’m stuck in a land and I need to get back to the people I love.’” But while “Rumple was willing to curse everybody to get what he wanted,” Kitsis reminds, “Neal has, up until this point, kind of been a really moral center for his dad… So the question is, ‘Will he follow the same path?’”http://tvline.com/2014/02/28/castle-1970s-episode-spoilers-blue-bloods-beauty-and-beast/

I don’t know. Believe what you want.
Desperate souls to do desperate things.
Do I think Neal will be tempted? Absolutely. Do I think Charming might be? Yes. Do I think Hook might be? Yes.
You do what you do in the name of family and love. It’s what this show has ALWAYS been about.
Do I think Neal will “go super dark evil man?” No. Where’s the hope in that? If he goes super dark evil man and then maybe dies–that’s not hopeful. Not for one of their originally conceived characters, death or no death, ship or no ship. Pan and Cora were villains from the start, doomed to meet an untimely end because they went against our heroes for selfish reasons. Neal will absolutely be tempted. But he won’t falter.
But believe what you will.

I’m glad to hear that the writers are going to explore more of his own personal issues without the extension of it being attached to Rumple, but his own personal dilemma about his own family and his mentality of it all.
I would love to see them explore Neal going through the torment of potentially going dark to save his loved ones just like his dad. I don’t believe he will totally give in but it would be interesting to see. I do think this time it won’t be an easy choice to make because he has Henry and Emma to think about. It’s not just himself anymore. He’s been resilient because it was just him against the world. But now that he’s a father, would he stoop to desperate levels to get back to Henry and Emma? We’ve seen him kinda do it in EF.
I really don’t get the death spoiler if they’re giving him some juicy storylines to work with. Seems premature to kill him off. I’m holding on to hope that we see more of Neal’s psyche and centric episode.

Agreed. Neal has a heart of GOLD. Neal at his core will remain steady, though he may be very, very tempted to cast another curse to get to Emma and Henry like his dad did once. Yet, he won’t cross that final line. I think this storyline will help to show Neal how much his father did to get back to him, Bae, as Neal struggles with a desire to get back to Henry and Emma. Yet, instead of giving into the darkness, I think Neal will be champion and instead fight to save his Papa and find an alternative way back to his family (think silver slippers in “A Curious Thing”).

So we still don’t know what Belle’s plan is at all, but it sounds like she and Neal are not going to be looking for him together…… it sounds like she’s on her own, which is ok with me – and it sounds like he’s concentrating on Emma/HenryFebruary 28, 2014 at 5:58 pm #248922RumplesGirlKeymasterNeal has a heart of GOLD
heh heh heh (excellent pun-age)

Yeah I agree. It is the way of the Stiltskin men, they get super tempted for power, youth, ect. But it has always been up to Neal to break that cycle–just like the cycle of abandonment. And Neal told Henry in 309 that he’d always have a father, he’d never leave him. That was him taking the first step in breaking the abusive cycle from Malcolm-Rumple-Bae. So I do think Nealfire might be super tempted because it’s part of who he is–a Stiltskin–but he’s also already shown that he knows it’s up to him to break those bad cycles.

I don’t think it’s a mutually exclusive thing. I think both Neal and Belle are and have been Rumple’s moral compass at times. Bae urged his father to do the right thing in flashbacks we’ve seen and Belle has urged Rumple to do right. It’s a both-and, not an either-or. I think Neal and Belle’s plans will both converge in Oz, and they’ll both team up in OperationGOLD to save Rumple. 😀
