Question: I’ve heard that Ariel will be back on Once Upon a Time. How will she be involved in the plot? —Ilenia
Ausiello: Without divulging the exact storyline, Colin O’Donoghue says that JoAnna Garcia Swisher’s encore as the Little Mermaid means “You’ll get to see Hook and Ariel interact a bit, which I think will be fun. They have a ‘tricky’ sort of relationship, and I think people will like it.”http://tvline.com/2014/03/18/how-i-met-your-mother-ted-alzheimers-disease-finale-spoilers/

Tricky eh? I wonder if one of them tricks the other.

March 18, 2014 at 6:32 pm #254013RumplesGirlKeymasterWith this spoiler I’m starting to wonder if the idea that Ariel sent Scuttle with a note to Hook telling him to get Emma might have legs.
GET IT.
HAVE LEGS
(cause she’s a mermaid…)
it’s funny, guys

I’m just excited that Hook’s gonna be interacting with our mermaid, because I bloody well wanna know what his reason for being so anti-mermaid is, feels like there’s gotta be some specific event that made him feel that way, and maybe we’re gonna find out what it was.

I think this just gave us a big clue as to how Hook will get back to the Land w/o Magic.

Maybe it has something to do with his searching for ways out of NL- like the mermaids wouldnt help him with it, so they were defacto enemies- maybe they wouldnt have anything to do with him since he was working for Pan or something along those lines.

That fits with the traditional mermaids in NL–they were pretty unhelpful to anyone who wasn’t PP.

Personally, I thought it was a racism thing. SOME mermaids are really bad, while others aren’t and Hook just doesn’t like them because they are mermaids… Could be wrong but in my mind, Hook is just being racist/speciest. He doesn’t have to have a specific reason, he just may not like their kind.

I agree that’s possible. But it’s kind of a weak explanation, especially on a TV show were you’re trying to uncover motives and psychological insights into characters. It might be racisim, but was there something that led Hook to feel that way?
