Question: Do you have any info on who will be Peter Pan in next season’s Once Upon a Time? —Wolf
Ausiello: As we previously reported, the producers are hoping to keep the casting of Peter Pan under wraps — maybe with an eye on a big Comic-Con reveal? But while on the subject of Neverland, the ABC drama is also filling the heavily recurring role of Rufio, aka the teenage leader of the Lost Boys. The character, per lore, is described as forever youthful, mischievous and harboring a penchant for clever games — but behind his playful façade lurks a petulant child twisted enough to destroy anyone who crosses his path. King Joffrey, call your agent!Question: Plz plz plz let me know when Once Upon a Time Season 3 starts! I’m addicted to this series and can’t wait to find out what happens next. –Logan
Ausiello: ABC — the last broadcaster to announce its fall premiere dates — isn’t in any rush to do so, so instead can I placate you with a plum piece of scoop? Sources tell me that Robin Hood will resurface in Season 3, but will be played by a different, yet-to-be-cast actor, seeing as Tom Ellis (Merlin) isn’t available for a recurring run. Who’s your pick to “rob” Ellis of his role? Anyone know what Matt Smith’s up to these days?http://tvline.com/2013/07/02/parenthood-season-5-spoilers-joel-julia-meredith-ask-ausiello/
[adrotate group="5"]"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"July 2, 2013 at 5:28 pm #199194RumplesGirlKeymasterConfirms what we all thought: RH is being recast. Tamara’s father for sure!
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"July 2, 2013 at 5:37 pm #199196HappyEndingsSpectatorWell that is a bummer why can’t the writers think ahead and use the actors tell they don’t really them again, in other words have the actors do all the parts that they need for the future and paste them in latter or don’t hire people you know won’t be around in case you do need them. : (
July 2, 2013 at 5:45 pm #199197MysteryKat25ParticipantThings change as time goes on. They may have originally not planned on using him much and brought in the actor as a brief guest star and then things changed in the writer’s room and they decided they needed much more of the character than the actor was willing to commit to. 🙁
I know they’ve said before they didn’t want to recast anyone but it sounds like this was an actor decision and they needed the character. It’s a bummer for sure but thankfully he was only in a little bit and isn’t a major player (as of yet). Other shows have done this as well when a character changes direction and they need something else or the actor isn’t interested/doesn’t have the time.
The show is an ongoing thing and constantly evolving. They don’t even have the whole season’s worth of scripts so they can’t get the actor around for a long time, even spacing out when the stuff even airs (and they didn’t plan to focus on RH last season as he was only needed for 1 episode) and the focus was seemingly on Neverland (and I think still will be).
It’s very sad and I’m curious to see who they put in the role as I liked Tom Ellis as RH, but I’m sure we’ll love whoever takes his place as we’re also still getting to know the character, whereas replacing others would be an issue. We saw RH so briefly that we didn’t get a chance to really care about the character all that much so he’s one of the few they’d be able to replace without much of an issue. Other characters got a lot more development even if they only had 1 episode and are far more memorable. I’m excited to have RH be in it more, though I wish Ellis had been able to continue. Better to do it now though then later on if we’re going to be seeing more of him and he becomes important.
I think he’ll have to be important if they are bothering to recast but feel like they have to have him in there. Otherwise I feel like if it were just for a few scenes they would have found a time to make it work. Doesn’t help my “please don’t be related to that awful awful person” wishes, but we’ll have to see how it plays out I guess. Bummer.
Was really hoping we’d just focus on NL and it wouldn’t be an issue but if he relates to Tamara then I’m all for getting her story out of the way pronto.

July 2, 2013 at 6:12 pm #199200schmackyParticipantThey obviously attained them.
If Emma ever hears this guy’s name I need her to scream out “Ru-FI-OOoooooooO!”
July 2, 2013 at 6:21 pm #199201RumplesGirlKeymasterI don’t think Rufio is really Rufio. I still think that name is a placeholder, probably for Peter Pan.
As for Tom Ellis: he may have gotten an offer back in England for full time work after ABC decided to not pick up his pilot, Gothica. That’s the nature of Hollywood and the business. I don’t think RH is going to play a massive role, I would expect we would only see him if it pertains to Tamara’s backstory. And now that we know the title for episode 1, it may be that this is Tamara’s backstory and that the heart of the true believer does refer to her.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"July 2, 2013 at 6:34 pm #199202HappyEndingsSpectatorI think they only need RH to teach Snow. As for that baby we don’t know if it is RH’s or someone else’s baby perhaps the baby was the Duke or PP or both what is Rumble’s saying there is always a “price for using magic“.
July 2, 2013 at 9:44 pm #199205JosephineParticipantWell, they lied about “Her” being important, although that was mostly Jane professing that, so I won’t be shocked if they lie about Tamara being someone from the Enchanted Forest…and if she’s Robin Hood’s and Marian’s daughter I consider that from the Enchanted Forest. Marian was pregnant whilst Belle was in the beginnings of her Rumple servitude so she definitely had the baby before Snow’s pregnancy so that baby would be born in the EF and probably a toddler or small child when the curse hit. It seems from Rumple’s speech to Snow that “love is a disease” would be post-Belle when he went a little full-throttle and nuts. Adding in that Grumpy was yet Dreamy when Belle met him and all the tick marks on Bell’s prison walls she was there a while before the curse hit all point to Snowing not together yet. But this is all bringing up the dreaded “t” word that must not be mentioned.
On the bright side, at least Ryan Murphy isn’t involved in this show. That man is brilliant in conceptualizing shows, but has no idea about continuity or timelines. Absolute worst and the reason I quit watching Glee last year after hoping against hope it might recapture it’s spark. At least Eddie and Adam know how to plot and plan, even if they do mess it up sometimes.

Adam and Eddy didn’t seem like they’ve delved too much into whatever legal issues there might exist that could prevent Rufio from being part of the show when asked about him in last Lightning Round for season 2:
Does Rufio exist in your version of Neverland?
Kitsis: You know what? At this point, everyone has asked us about Rufio. Our entire writers’ room is pitching Rufio. I don’t know whether or not that is property of Sony.
Horowitz: Whatever studio did it, I think Rufio is a proprietary character.
Kitsis: He lives in our hearts.
Horowitz: We love Rufio and we wish he could be a part of this show. In our minds, he exists in the show whether you see him or not.Either way, the same was true for the characters of Peter Pan in season 1 and they eventually got the rights for them.
I still have high hopes that the casting is indeed for Rufio – as seen above, they HAVE said that they love Rufio and wish he could be a part of the show – but I have to admit this extended description of the character does look like it could fit Peter Pan rather well.
PS: If he is indeed Rufio, he better say a variation of “KILL THE LAWYER!” 😀
