Hypnos is the one related to sleep and Morpheus is his son and the god of dreams. Hypnos actually lives in the underworld, at least according to what i read, but im sure @RG is the one that can confirm if im mixing things.

Yeah, technically you’re right, but it’s not uncommon for adaptations to make Morpheus both the god of sleep and/or dreams. I wouldn’t be surprised if this show goes that route, knowing Adam and Eddy. After all, they called Hades “God of Death”, even though technically another Greek God holds that title.

yeah, they can do that, i went to see if i was not mixing stuff and found this:

Hypnos’ three brothers (according to Hesiod and Hyginus) or sons (according to Ovid) were known as the Oneiroi, which is Greek for “dreams”.Morpheus is the Winged God of Dreams and can take human form in dreams. Phobetor is the personification of nightmares and created frightening dreams, he could take the shape of any animal including bears and tigers. Phantasos was known for creating fake dreams full of illusions. Morpheus, Phobetor, and Phantasos appeared in the dreams of kings. The Oneiroi lived in a cave at the shores of the Ocean in the West. The cave had two gates with which to send people dreams; one made from ivory and the other from buckhorn. However, before they could do their work and send out the dreams, first Hypnos had to put the recipient to sleep

So yeah, even tho there are 3 gods of dreams and one god of sleep, they may pack everything and make one god with the powers of the other ones, so making 4 into 1 type of thing.

So this can be about many characters, Emma, Hyde or even about Regina that like Hyde has a double villain part of her walking around the town, or even Belle and the Red fire room( or whatever is called), for people with sleeping curses, maybe Snow, charming or Henry go to that room and talk with Belle, or that maybe who knows, he has the cure to end sleeping curses.

    *steps on to Greek box*

Yes, Morpheus is the god of dreams more precisely. The Oneiroi are all manner of fascinating–and Greek epics/tales in general placed heavy emphasis on the power of dreams and their meaning. Above Rainbow quotes information about the two doors–ivory and buckhorn–and in the Odyssey, as an example, Penelope tells Odyessus (whom she does not recognize…) about a dream she had and whether or not it will to pass.

“Yet my strange dream did not- I think- come out of the gate of horn, for if it had, it would have made my son and me rejoice.”

All of this is awesome and great but means diddly squat on a show that can’t be bothered to get something like the birth order of Zeus and Hades right. I’m sure Morpheus will be the god of dreams and sleep on this show.

But this character will appear in the premiere, may be or not a good person and seems may be another “peter pan”, old by still young

Morpheus could be the Neverland Shadow, the one who turned Peter Pan into a boy.

If you look closely Pan’s shadow and the shadow he encounters on Neverland aren’t the same (one has purple eyes, the other has yellow/white ones, they don’t have the same build, and the one with purple eyes speaks and says he rules Neverland) We know Neverland can be accessed by the dreams of kids, so that could be a connection. That shadow was obviously evil. And he had the body of young boy and the voice of an old guy. And he rules over an entire land where kids come when they sleep and dream.

Morpheus is the Neverland shadow. I am calling it.

I made a post about how I thought Blue was the shadow here if anyone cares: https://oncepodcast.com/forums/topic/sneaky-shadow-is-sneaky/

for the premiere the role of Morpheus, as in the Greek god of dreams (versus, you know, Laurence Fishburne in The Matrix). He is described as “an old soul in a young body,” someone who is equally good at reading people as he is at hiding his own agenda.

    Hm. Code name?

    Could it be the Genie?

He’s more than ten thousand years old, that covers the old soul….and he’s in what appears to be a young body.

And that’s if he even turns out to be Morpheus at all. Like the previous castings calls, Morpheus could just be code name. WickedRegal might not be far off suggesting Aladdin’s genie.

Mmm….maybe for the Genie. But I’m not sure he fits “hiding his own agenda.” He was pretty open about wanting freedom. Also, I think A and E have to tread very carefully on Genie given Robin Williams’ still recent death.

This sounds intriguing. It’s a great opportunity to fully explore Emma’s prophetic dreams which were touched on in 5B. Dreams might also have a land unto themselves.

Has there ever been a casting call where the character was NOT referred to by a code name?

    Quote

In recent years, the casting calls for the Camelot crew. Merlin, Arthur, Guinevere, and Percival used real names. However, it was already confirmed prior that we were going to explore Arthurian legend for Season 5. I know plenty of casting calls back during Season 1 used the actual character names like Cora and Jefferson. Other than that, casting calls have mainly consisted of code names. Adam and Eddy are fully aware that casting calls get reported on, so they’ll use code names and sometimes even false descriptions, in order to keep their identities secret.
