Has there ever been a casting call where the character was NOT referred to by a code name?
Hmm… Neal, Mulan, Tinkerbell (she was Violet, right?) , Aurora, Merida, Young Ursula, Jekyll, Hyde, all had code names.
Liam didn’t have a code name though.But I think most major characters are given a codename to keep a surprise.

All we know is that the character is an old soul in a young body, adept at reading people and keeping his own business private.

Neal was Jack, Mulan was Magnolia, Tinker Bell was indeed Violet (ironically before we got a real Violet), Aurora was Anastasia (also ironically before we got a real Anastasia), Merida was Evanna (this was the infamous casting call that said she was Rumple’s mother), Young Ursula was Miranda, Jekyll was Nathaniel, and Hyde was Jacob.
Clearly “Morpheus” is going to be played by a young actor. Question is, how young? You don’t think “Morpheus” is going to be the sand man do you? If he is, maybe one day we’ll get the bogey man?
“Old soul in a young body” sounds like Jack Frost.

Eh. I don’t think really young. I think he’ll be early 20’s at the least, late 20’s at the most. I doubt he will be Henry’s age.
Unless he is, then he and Henry might just get into some trouble which would be cool.

Yes, in actuality this character might be a one off with as much importance as, say, Captain Silver on 515’s “The Brothers Jones”

The whole old soul in a young body would fit with a vampire. The reading people and hiding own agenda would fit too.
The whole greek god of dreams bit might have come from tv line rather than the casting call itself because of the not the Morpheus from the matrix comment as if tv line were trying to clarify that the matrix wasn’t coming to Storybrooke.
Also Dracula was supposedly meant to be in the pilot but was cut.

I was going to suggest an alternate interpretation: Morpheus isn’t the god of dreams as in, ya know, the little mind movies we have at night. He’s the god of dreams as in our goals, aspirations, or wants for our life.
This could tie into this season’s arc because if these characters have never had their stories told, and have become completely disconnected from their old lives by ending up in some random lost world, they have probably given up on their dreams or probably can do nothing but constantly have “what ifs” in their heads while they are trapped in that realm, so Morpheus might be attracted to them for that reason. Like he’s feeding off of the dreams they wanted for their lives, or the what ifs they keep pondering.
I’m probably thinking too hard and that’s probably ridiculous, but swing at every ball, eh.

Ditch the villain of the arc, and bring back season 1 vibe in storybrooke. The untold story thing just opens up so many character avenues. I’ve enjoyed the speculation of pretty much all the characters listed in this thread from the genie to Dracula.
Dracula is an interesting choice. I’ve been wondering lately if they’ll get David Anders back for a quick story or two since iZombie is off air until spring. It would fill out the “Hollywood monster” ticket (Hyde, Dracula, Frankenstein, and possibly The Wolf”man” if they can get Ruby)
