So wherever he got the bean, it wasn’t in the EF.
Wait, I thought Hook just sailed far away? O.o he we to a different land before he got the bean? Sorry if I’m asking so many questions
The walls between realms fell (which we didn’t even really know was a thing until Regina threw it into a scene in 319). So Hook out races the curse with he JR and then once he’s past the EF because the walls have fallen and into another realm, he gets a bean from there. We just don’t know where that is.
Same with Ariel and Eric. They are past the point of the curse, which means not in the EF.

It is a realm/land and is made up of various kingdoms like Snowing’s kingdom, George’s kingdom, and even (apparently) Agrabah
WL is a realm/land
NL is a realm/land
Fictional London is a real/land
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"June 13, 2014 at 5:38 pm #273713MyrilParticipantThe fictional world building including a basic geography of the worlds/realms (are they each spheres on their own or all part of one big sphere? And the geography of the worlds) and how magic works is underdeveloped, one of the big problems of the show and becoming increasingly frustrating. Way too many plotholes, even of the blackplothole kind (sucking everything in coming a little to close, from other plots, the overall story arc, never to be seen and heard of again, not talking about things which can be explained eventually later). Of course the focus should be on the character development and the story more driven by that, but disregarding a decent world building is harming character driven story telling. Writing the same here what I did on another forum. There has to be a basic structure, rules, a matrix in which the characters have to operate, exposing the conflicts and trouble and drama going on inside a character and between characters. The world has to limit powers and possibilities and consistently so, especially if it is a fantasy magical world. In the end the character are limiting themselves, but the restrains of the world are what brings it to light.
That is why plenty of fantasy worlds fall rather flat if it comes to character development, a few might pay too much attention to detail but most fail in world building, there has to be a logic inside the universe created. It’s not about defining every tiny detail, and one can bend things a bit if need be, but what they’re doing on the show is quite random.
¯\_(?????? ?)_/¯

In 319 when Regina said something about the walls between realms falling down I just blinked several times and said, “wut??” Like, where did THAT come from. We’ve always known there were other lands but now there are “walls” between them that are apparently affected by …curses…people moving by a curse…I have no idea. So I agree. The world building on the show makes my head hurt.
We know there’s the EF. And the EF consists of various kingdoms
1) Aurora’s kingdom
2) Snow and Charming’s kingdom, which used to be George’s
3) The Summer Palace where Regina was exiled
4) Cinderella’s Kingdom
5) Eric’s kingdom?
6) Agrabah (per Jane)
7) Rapunzel’s kingdom, apparently
8) King Midas’s kingdom
And there are other forests, but do they neighbor the EF or are they just in the EF (and for that matter, what’s the difference between EF and FTL). Other forests include
1) The Infinite Forest
2) Sherwood Forest
And then there are other lands accessible only by portal/device
1) WL
2) Fictional London
3) NL
4) Oz
And then there are lands we know exist but haven’t seen like Camelot, which has been mentioned but without any idea of where it is.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"June 13, 2014 at 6:47 pm #273718Jenna_BParticipantMy problem is that ‘realm’ has never clearly been defined. Like, are realms alternate universes? Is Oz, Wonderland, Where-Is-Frankenstein-From-Again?, EF, etc separate universes but Philora’s, George’s, Snowing/Regina’s kingdoms within the EF? And the forests…? You get the idea. I let the writers play fast and loose with the ‘rules’ since it’s a fantasy but that is one thing that needs to be at least somewhat clear, in my opinion.
And thanks all, you gave me quite the headache this afternoon! 🙂
After thinking about realms and universes I started on magic – how does it work? Like, if I want to poof up an apple, where does the stuff like the molecules and atoms and other science-y stuff that make up the apple come from? If I poof Hook’s hook from his brace to the light, does it break down into tiny little atoms and fly over there and rebuild or what? Yeah, thanks. What a way to spend and afternoon!

I’m still trying to understand how one can survive with no heart xD like how is there blood being pumped?? I settled on that when a heart is taken, its more of a symbolic thing made physical. So they really have a heart inside them but what was ripped out was the “esscense” of their heart… If that makes sense xD

or how can one survive with only half a heart. I know…symbolic poetry. but…reality wise, that’s just not possible.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"June 13, 2014 at 7:36 pm #273723Epona_610ParticipantYeah, I’ve always wanted a map, at least of the EF and all of its kingdoms. And I didn’t know for sure that Agrabah was in the same world as the EF; that’s interesting. I wonder if Arendelle will be like that as well, and Camelot–I could definitely see all of those lands being part of one world (Fairytale Land?).
Wonderland and Neverland seem different enough to be in different worlds entirely. The fictional vs real version of our world is one that really drives me nuts though, because that’s just plain confusing. I even forget now, which story (or stories?) takes place in fictional London?
And the heart thing…well, I’ve long given up on that making sense, haha. Magic doesn’t have to make sense, right? They did say that they’d be addressing the whole shared-heart thing at some point, so hopefully that’ll have some effect. But along that line, I can’t be the only one who’s 99% sure we’ll be seeing a heart get frozen at some point in this upcoming half-season, right? 😉

According to Jane on Twitter it is. But…that could change at any moment. 🙂

It was part of ONCEWL. Alice was from there; as was Mr. Darcy.
However, the Darling family was from REAL London (with young Bae)
*note: this doesn’t make any sense because both the Liddle’s and the Darling families were real and in REAL London and Adam’s explanation is “magic”*
