Participant“It wasn’t the quill itself, but the ink that captured the Dark One. Harvested from the rarest species of squid, from the bottom of a bottomless ocean. Impossible to find, unless you’re a mermaid…or me.”
A species of squid so rare, there’s only one of her. 😉 Can’t wait to see what they do with The Little Mermaid, so I loved them dropping that hint.

ParticipantI did think that was a hint at Ursula too, I really hope that’s a story we get to see this season I just wonder if Ariel was taken to Storybrooke too or left in the Enchanted forest.

ParticipantI just about fell out of my seat when Mr. Gold told his tale about the enchanted ink and the mermaid who could retrieve it; I’m really looking forward to the Little Mermaid story. 🙂 This is the third nod to that story: first there was Regina saying she had to see about a certain mermaid, then there was the mute maid who served Rumpel, and now this. I have a feeling it’s going to be an excellent adaptation.

KeymasterI loved the reference to the Little Mermaid as well. I’m almost positive that Rumpel got the ink from Ursula. I can’t wait to see that episode! 😀

ParticipantSo I believe Cora will use Aurora to capture Emma and Snow or at least somehow prevent them from getting the ink – I’m more than certain she will destroy the ink the minute she gets it. Which will force Snow to find this mermaid and that’s how the story will go…. right?
The thing is though, they meant to get back through the portal in the next episode and there is Archie's story to tell as well so I'm afraid there won't be much time to explore the Little Mermaid at all – but I strongly believe they will eventually tell us a story, maybe Aurora and Mulan who clearly don't get to SB will want to find the squid, who knows? And Cora is changing someone into a fish at some point! 😈November 27, 2012 at 3:50 am #162502staceyk92
ParticipantHey all, would just like to add that in The Little Mermaid, Ursula get’s Ariel to sign the contract using ink, could this be the same ink? Even if it isn’t, I think this is a major shout out to Ursula.

ParticipantI like that even though we have no idea when they’re gonna do The Little Mermaid, that they’ve dropped little hints here and there, so it’s evident that those characters are entwined with this overall story, so they won’t feel out of place when they do show up.

ParticipantI just read, that Ursala was only drawn with six tentacles in the movie, due to the movie’s budget and the difficulty of coordinating eight tentacles, which technically makes her a squid. 😯

ParticipantShe gave me nightmares as a kid, I’d hide under my blankets when I went to sleep so she couldn’t get me 😕
