Thanks for your input. My next idea might be a bit controversial since it involves the removal of the sorcerer’s hat as the icon. However the hat was only supposed to be a temporary icon because Disney lost the rights to use the Chinese theatre. My idea was to create a Disney’s Hollywood Studios theatre. I was thinking the outside might look sort of like a white tuxedo with the Hollywood Studios sign that is currently there being mounted on the building in place of the bow tie. Then on the outside in two little courtyard areas on the right and left they could put Minnie and Mickey’s car from the motorcade parade they had at one point with statues of the two stars. While on the other side they could put the statue of the man with a video camera and maybe a statue of walt behind him giving directions, or posed that way.
On the inside of course on the left you would have the entrance and queue line for GMR. On the right hand side there would be a Gone with the Wind style staircase that would lead upstairs to a second level where there would be a revamped version of Hollywood and Vine all about Hollywood glitz and glamour. I kind of want it to be Jessica Rabbit for a character dining thing there but I don’t know if they would do that. They could have black and white photos of her, Marilyn Monroe, and Audrey Hepburn… There would also be a gold elevator for handicap access. On the third floor there would be a lounge bar area where adults could come and relax with lots of electrical outlets for charging one’s electronic devices. This would take the place of the Tune-In Lounge.

Since all of the area next to Indiana Jones would be dead space since Hollywood and vine and Prime Time would have been relocated I was thinking about somehow turning the Echo Lake area into a new water thrill ride attraction called the Sea of Monsters. I know the movie was not that awesome but neither was haunted mansion or tower of terror. However both are very popular attractions. If they do it correctly there is no reason why this sort of ride couldn’t be. Plus putting it next to Indiana jones makes sense because he was an archeologist interested in myths and legends, especially any of them involving treasures. I think I would love to see a movie where Indiana Jones or his son come face to face with Percy Jackson or a greek god.

I have a few modifications for sunset and no I am not messing with Tower of Terror, Rock n’ Rollercoaster, or Fantasmic. Then on to what is currently animation courtyard then I am done with DHS. So first is something I read about online as a possibility and I liked it. First is making the theatre where Beauty and the beast is now an indoor theatre and putting a new show called Tangled: The Musical there. My only stipulation is that I don’t want to get rid of Beauty and the Beast completely. I would put it in the Be Our Guest Restaurant and make the table service part of that into and dinner and a show type of experience. From a business perspective just think how many more people would want to eat there and be willing to pay for it.

Which would mean the park could stand to replace a few. So on one side of sunset, preferably next to or near Villains in Vogue I was thinking we could put the One Man’s Dream there. Then on the other side in place of the merchandise shops I thought it would be a good place for Disney’s Art of animation with mushu. I think these two attractions would work better here because Fantasmic is all about Mickey’s (Walt’s) imagination and how it all started with a mouse. I think if guests ended the night with Fantasmic, having these two attractions there would make them more popular and help bring home just how much walt accomplished through perseverance, and help inspire others not to give up on their dreams.
February 12, 2014 at 9:43 am #244563zlfh4Participantsunset’s last modification would simply be to make the Sunset Market Ranch into an indoor air conditioned restaurant similar to Cosmic Ray’s themed around fantasmic. Preferably with the Iconic Sorcerer’s hat as a roof.
February 12, 2014 at 9:48 am #244569zlfh4ParticipantLast but not least I would turn the backstage area as well as everything that was once animation courtyard into either a Lord of the Rings expansion or a marvel one. I honestly think marvel would work better. I am not sure whether or not I would keep the Little Mermaid show since I don’t think its really needed now that they have the new Little Mermaid ride at Magic Kingdom and there are other movies that don’t have an attraction to feature them that they could put there. Or it could just be part of the expansion.

The Sorcerer Mickey hat has always been an eyesore, in my opinion, and it was originally added for the 100 Years of Magic celebration, which celebrated Walt Disney’s hypothetical 100th birthday. If they can’t regain the rights to use the Chinese Theatre, I think they could just redesign the exterior based on the El Capitan Theatre. The El Capitan is actually owned by Disney outright, and it is also on Hollywood Boulevard.
February 12, 2014 at 10:28 am #244599Sarah_TNParticipantI would like to see a Walt Disney Park that is exclusively devoted to music. I know Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM Studios) includes some music entertainment in it’s “movie” theme, but I’d like for this park to be different. If this park were built, I’d like for it to be interactive with a focus on music education. I’d love to see areas in the park which feature activities focused on musical traditions from other cultures, and activities which give both adults and children the ability to create their own music (with assistance, of course). I think this could be a lot of fun, and could really help to make music appreciation fun if it were to highlight the evolution of musical traditions, and how we hear so many of these influences on the radio today, and don’t even realize it.

February 12, 2014 at 12:09 pm #244616zlfh4ParticipantI’ll have to look up the El Captain Theatre, I just think it would be nice if they did something more original and really make it their own. I know the sunset blvd area was originally supposed to be devoted to the music of the movies that’s why they built the Rock n’ Rollercoaster there but well didn’t really turn out that way. I think Disney could invest in a performing arts school or college though and maybe have a tour of it…If Walt had been able to live long enough to fulfill his dream of a city for Epcot for the cast members I think a college of some sort would have eventually become a part of it, though since walt obviously had interests in science and history I don’t think it would have been exclusively devoted to just the arts. Of course there would probably be monorails from every park and cast members would be able to take monorails to and from the parks without clogging up I4, they wouldn’t need parking lots for cast members, there would be one central costuming place for all cast member instead of having them spread out all over the place which would make it easier for cast members to work at multiple places, which in the long run would make it cheaper to run the parks as far as labor was concerned….and rant is over…I just understand why Walt wanted a city for his cast members that he designed for their convenience as well as making the parks more efficient….but I am digressing again.
February 12, 2014 at 5:32 pm #244688MatthewPaulModeratorIt’s a shame the original purpose of Hollywood Studios (formerly Disney-MGM Studios) is no longer there. Back when it originally opened it was a real functioning studio. TV shows, live action films, and even several Disney animated films used to be produced right there. Back in the 90s, Disney and Nickelodeon (via their Nickelodeon Studios at Universal Studios Florida) had a little Florida Hollywood going on. For whatever reason, interest diminished over time and both Disney and Nickelodeon abandoned that. Now Disney Hollywood Studios is really just a Studio in name only, while it’s going through a bit of an identity crisis.
