I think it’s possible that Bandit Snow spent some time hiding out with Robin Hood and his merry men while she was on the run from the queen. I believe the bow and arrow that Rumple gave to Snow White in “Heart of Darkness” is the same bow and arrow that Rumple was using in the promo for “Lacey” (I’m guessing Rumple got it from Robin Hood). However, I think it’s more likely that Snow White learned her archery skills as a royal princess, especially since she was very much a daddy’s girl and the sole heir to her father’s throne. Snow probably was both son and daughter to her father, especially after her mother’s death, and Leopold likely taught her hunting and battle skills using a bow and arrow.
I don’t think Snow learnt any of her skills until after Regina had banished her. She was too much of a daddy’s girl. Being on the run hardened her up. Snow wouldn’t have been taught useful skills like hunting because of her position in life. She was a woman and a princess, she was more likely to be taught embroidery than archery. Archery and hunting would have been considered men’s pursuits. Women may have been allowed to accompany them but they weren’t allowed to take part. It is more likely that Red and Granny taught Snow how to hunt when she stayed with them.
I agree that Snow White was most certainly a daddy’s girl, but I think where we differ is on the implications of that term. I understand it to mean that she followed in her father’s footsteps. As far as we know, Snow White is an only child and therefore sole heir to her father’s throne. Whereas agreeably most noblewomen of her day would have learnt the art of embroidery, I believe that as crown princess, Snow White was an exception, and thus would have been groomed for leadership and taught valuable skills by her father. The king would have made sure she had the finest education, which would have included how to rule a kingdom and even how to defend it, if necessary. Besides, archery was often taught as a hobby to noblewomen, even if they never stepped foot upon a battlefield.

We saw Red teaching Snow how to track. So yeah, she learned those skills on the run.
I agree that Snow White didn’t learn tracking skills until she met Red, but that doesn’t preclude the possibility that Snow already had excellent marksmanship skill prior to their first meeting.

😆 He does act, so not for Robin Hood, but you never know for a future character….

I’ve wondered where a shepherd boy like David learned to shoot a bow and arrow so well, since I doubt he would have learned how to growing up on a farm. David even said in 1×6 that he was no warrior, so he must have learned it after he left the farm. It’s possible that he’s a very quick learner and picked up the skill while impersonating his twin brother, Prince James. Yet, to become an expert marksman, maybe Snow White instructed and perfected her husband’s archery skills.

If we get a standalone promo for “Lacey” this Sunday, it would be a great song to use. Just like they used “People are Strange” by The Doors for the “Hat Trick” promo.

I got gangsta rap in my head, reading “Robin of the Hood” as “Robin in da Hood”. Bet he kept at least one chunk of gold to fashion into an oversized $ to hang around his neck.
Also, I love how they made it look so olde worlde-y, then stuck a hashtag on it, (the version of the wanted poster that they tweeted has the hashtag on it too). 😛
As far as the wording with “The Crown” and all, that may just be flowery wording for the sake of making the image. What we know so far suggests that it’s Rumple he tries to steal from, Rumple he’s held prisoner by, then he escapes and Rumple hunts him down. I don’t see Rumple making wanted posters asking peasants to help him catch someone.
Perhaps we’ll just see a random sign like this one stuck to a tree near the start of the ep when they first introduce Robin, (before he gets tangled up in Rumple’s story), because it’s a fitting prop to use when establishing the character who was always stealing from the rich? Or maybe he does get captured by someone like King George, who tells him that the only way to get out of being executed is to go on a mission to steal something from Rumple, and that leads into the main storyline for the ep?
April 10, 2013 at 12:36 pm #185433RumplesGirlKeymasterFrom the full synopsis of the episode, it sounds like Robin has already been captured by Rumple when the episode first flashes back and then Belle lets him go. This is followed by Rumple and Belle trying to get him back. So whatever he’s tried to steal, it’s a past event and probably one that will only be discussed on screen and not shown. Slurpeez suggested it was gold, which makes a lot of sense given Robin Hood’s mythology. And since we know Marian comes into it, I have to wonder if the Sheriff of Nottingham is holding Marian hostage for ransom. This could parallel nicely to Keith trying to woo/seduce Lacey in SB.
