I don’t think he was fine all along. And I understand that David was only fine until the Neverland waters ran out. He had to drink the elixir that Gold gave him for a lasting cure for Dreamshade poisoning.
I still thought it was creepy to have to drink anything Concocted by Mr. Gold.

I just think it’s creepy to be put in a situation where you have to drink anything concocted by Mr. Gold. Redeemed or not, he’s still a shady character in my book. I love the guy to pieces. But I would hate to have put my life, my fate in his hands.
It’s not beyond reasoning to think he might have added a little something to that elixir.December 29, 2013 at 12:46 am #234146PheeParticipantBut why then, didn’t Charming pull up his shirt to see if it was really taking effect?
Because there was no physical sign of the injury once he’d had the water. Before he drank the water, you could see the effects of the poison in the veins in his face and all, but when he drank the water, it went away because it makes it appear as though the person has been completely healed. That’s why Liam had assumed he was completely healed. In the Diner scene, there was no longer a physical manifestation of the injury that they could have shown us healing, so instead they showed him just feeling like the magic potion was working on his insides.

If Rumple gave Charming a dodgy potion, Neal would have been livid, and Rumple had only just made amends with Neal, (which he’s been wanting to do for a couple of centuries), so he wasn’t gonna jeopardise that, therefore, they could trust that the potion was legit.

I wonder… In Neverland, belief really does make things real, and everybody started believing in the potion before they left the island.

Granny might say something to that effect, but not right away.

Oh that’s good. I never caught that part of it! 🙂

That’s an interesting theory.

So I felt it was the opposite of his “imp” wheeling-dealing-misleading creepy side. He’s come along way from that mentality, and it sets up his sacrifice in the next episode.
Perhaps it is also setting up Belle bonding with the Charmings more during Rumple’s absence, because of the connections. I could see Snow taking her under her wing, the way Ruby once took in Snow.
Does anyone else feel it is odd that Snow and Belle separately formed friendships with Grumpy, Ariel and Ruby, yet have never interacted with each other very much? Anyway, at the end of the day I feel Rumple’s had moments before of showing tenderness towards family and even if he might in some ways still have his defenses in terms of how he expresses himself, there was no ominous foreshadowing there, just contrast to his prior mode of operation.

Yes it’s like in real life where you’re friends with all the same people but you aren’t friends yourself.
I hope that changes. Snow and Belle are a lot alike: both always see the goodness in others, both have beef with Regina. I think they’d make good friends. And if Rumple and Charming are besties, then I don’t see why not.
