Favorite Moments: Seeing how the curse landed in our world, Mr. Gold standing between Regina and Snow, Mr. Gold telling Regina to give up on revenge, the final scene between Regina and Snow, Mr. Gold and Charming’s pissing contest, Henry’s speech at the well, Mr. Gold paying his respects to Cora, Regina strutting around town after the curse was cast, seeing Regina become bored with like in Storybrooke,Lana Parilla’s performance and Neal bribing Henry with ice cream
Least Favorite Moments: Mr. Gold’s initial refusal to help Snow, Regina arresting Owen’s dad andoverall the lack of focus on other characters in the flashbacks (I wanted to see more of Mr. Gold, MM, Belle and Jefferson).

I wanted to see how EVERYONE was adjusting to their new lives under the curse, not just Regina. But other than that, I found this to be a very intriguing episode.
Favorite Moments:
-Snow begging Regina to kill her. That scene broke my heart.
-Mr. Gold protecting Snow. For the time being…
-Mr. Gold and Regina’s conversation in the crypt. He actually seemed to care about her in that scene.
-Charming telling off Mr. Gold at the door. That scene cracked me up.
-Granny and Ruby’s repeated arguments in front of the diner.
-Watching Regina grow more and more indifferent towards her new like in Storybrooke.
-Seeing the curse form around Owen and his dad at the beginning of the episode.
-Owen shouting “I’ll never stop looking for you!”
-Final confirmation that Mr. Gold DID NOT have his memories during the curse.
-Regina and Owen’s scenes together.
-Regina ripping apart her mother’s dress looking for the curse and then Regina saying “thank you mommy.”
-Henry speech about magic. YOU TELL ‘EM KID!Least Favorite Moments:
-The car chase and Regina arresting Owen’s dad.
-No Belle, no Jefferson and not enough Mr. Gold or Mary Margaret.March 20, 2013 at 6:38 am #181086wewerecursedParticipant@Elle wrote:
But there were a few things that bothered me about this episode. The writers themselves said that this episode would prove that Regina did not abuse Graham–that didn’t happen. If anything, it only shows more of what she did to Graham, using his heart and and the curse to make him act the way she wanted him to.
Wait, the writers said that? It only proved that Graham WAS abused! He slept with her because it was what SHE wanted. He never would have if he had his free will. I don’t care what anyone says, the poor guy was raped.
Le sigh…anyway…
Favorites:Graham. Even though seeing him made me sad.
Kurt. I really just loved him, loved the actor, the character, everything. His reaction to seeing Regina with the heart was great and the way he handled her throughout the episode was very realistic.
THE CAR CHASE! OH MY GLOB WE GOT A CAR CHASE! And it was pretty darn good, too! Seriously this episode had it all, it was a horror movie (creepy town appears from nowhere where creepy mayor woman wants to keep your son?) action flick, and even a budding family film if Regina hadn’t been so creepy, because that moment with Owen in the kitchen was cute.
“I won’t hurt him!” – Regina. It cracked me up…because it was creepy.
Regina with the heart communicator and her little swishy hand with it.
The opening scene with Kurt and Owen.
Seeing that scene with Mary Margaret in class talking about birds again, and the fact that they were living in Groundhog Day.
When Regina yelled at Mary Margaret to fight back when they bumped into each other again.
Rumple popping out of nowhere to be Snow’s “guard dog.” Teehee.
Ginnifer Goodwin.
Lana Parilla.
Rumple’s words to Snow about how he lives with himself.
Henry’s face when Regina poofed away his dynamite.
Henry is finally written as an eleven year old boy – who turns to dynamite to solve his problems.
Oh Lord, I better stop. I could go on. I really loved this episode.
I can’t really say I have a least…but one scene I’m terribly conflicted with. The scene where Snow sacrifices herself to Regina was AMAZING and powerful and incredibly acted. Snow giving herself up that way seemed very typical, as it wouldn’t be the first time she made a rash self-damaging decision like that. I believe that her character would offer herself to die if it put an end to the madness.
That said, I feel like after Regina showed her the blackness and told her she wasn’t going to kill her, and Snow BEGGED Regina to kill her…was a little much. That wasn’t just wanting to save her family and end the feud, that was suicidal. Even a change in words there would have been better, like if she cried and said, “Just do it! Get it over with!” Would have sounded better than, “Please kill me!” I just don’t see Snow wanting THAT BADLY to leave her family. This is the same woman who leapt into a swirling pit going who-knew-where just so she wouldn’t have to be separated from Emma again. And yes, I realize she’s traumatized and depressed and hating herself, but I just can’t see her wanting to die because of it.
I still loved the scene though, it gave me chills. And the way Regina was crying? Ugh. I just couldn’t get over it. Also, can we talk about the fact that Ginnifer Goodwin had to come up with all that pain and fear on her own, with just Lana pushing her hand toward her? The only thing missing for me was Emma coming to save her, and possibly yelling at her for what she did. Do you think Snow will have any repercussions in the next ep, or will it be glossed over?
Also…why does David call her Mary Margaret? I get why everyone else does, they did it for 28 years and Emma is still adjusting. But David knew her as Snow much longer, and started off this season calling her Snow. It makes no sense to me whatsoever that he would call her Mary Margaret. None. It bugs me. Like a lot.

Regina calling Graham using his heart. Mary Margaret asking Regina to kill her. That was heart breaking. All scenes with Graham, except for when he was with Regina.
Least: I have to think about those.

Sorry for the late reply…
Yes, the writers said that this episode would show that the relationship was he rape. And Lana Parrilla said herself that it was cute and flirty in this episode. I’m sorry I cannot find the interview–if I can, I’ll most it.

I think part of the problem is that the episdoe did not make clear to what extent, if any, the people in the town had free will, despite all the fogged memories and repeating scenarios. If it was the case they could choose to do or not do some things, like Mary Margaret not fighting with Regina when she ran into her, or Gold being snarky rather than helpful, then I guess you could downgrade the relationship to harrasment but still icky.

I gotta disagree–the episode made it clear that no one had free–when Regina goes to Mr.Gold, stating how unhappy she is–she tells him that everyone does what she wants because they have no choice.

She says that, but I thought she was simplifying the situation. It did appear like people could make some small choices within the basic lives given to them by the curse (clothes changing, slight variations on dialogue). That’s definitely not full free will, but I thought it was more than puppets that can only react when she directs. Billy and Granny for example, make choices about how to react to Kurt and Owen that initially do not match Regina’s unfriendly attitude. Granny offers a room, and Billy wants to leisurely do the repairs.
When Regina challenges anyone though, they do what she is asking them to do if it makes sense within the reality she created for them, because they believe her to be the Mayor. At least, that was how I took Mary Margret not fighting Regina about running into her. When Regina, who appears to be spoiling for an argument, says why don’t you fight back, Mary Margret just asks why would she, and walks away. I wasn’t sure that if Regina demanded Mary Margret to fight her right then, that Mary Margret would suddenly turn around and try to fight, despite having just said she had no reason to do that.
Could she have ordered everyone in town to drop what they were doing and attack Kurt and Owen zombie style? I kind of had the impression that her powers over everyone did not extend THAT far, so she had to use the heart to make Graham do something that was too far out of his character as arresting an innocent man. But it still makes the relationship with Graham icky, because he is not fully aware that his choices are so constrained, and the curse did create personalities a little or shift them. It’s a paper fine distinction I guess, but maybe it is what the writers were thinking to say what they did about the Graham & Regina relationship.“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would.
