Turns out that Snow and Charming met, though not face to face, before the event of Snow Falls. What do you make of this new development? And how cool is it that the sappling of true love grew from their first encounter!

I don’t like the concept of true love existing without any real connection between them, but this is pretty normal for Once. The only real puzzlement is, if True Love is so easy to come by (judging by Hook’s dad, Red ect.) why on earth did Rumple need to go to so much trouble to get a bottle of it?

I will say this didn’t turn out to be quite what I feared. They technically met, but not face to face. Nor was there any amnesia involved. I thought it was done fairly well, though I think I would have preferred them not interacting yet at all. I liked how they avoided them crossing paths for most of the flashback in a creative way, and wanted to see that continue. Either way, it didn’t end up tainting their first full meeting in “Snow Falls”/”Snow Drifts” for me.

I agree with 100% of this. I actually breathed a sigh of relief.

This was the only thing I didn’t like actually.

I agree the way they handled them meeting before was better than I thought, but the true love sapling, for me, would have made more sense if it was not just the sapling of their true love but the sapling of the very first true love in all of the world.

That would make it extremely special and extremely powerful. It being from their first true love is so stereotypical, giving snowing all the special lovey doveys. Sheesh. Does everyone have a true love sapling somewhere?

I was a bit confused by the sappling by the end, to be honest. Was the show trying to say that they were the very first true loves??? Blue seemed to suggest so but that doesn’t….make sense?

Especially when it’s canon that Brennan was awoken by TLK from his nurse. Liam 2 is roughly around 8 years old, when we see him in “Swan Song”, so that TLK should predate Snowing’s TLK by a few years.

I need to re-watch, but the whole thing was extremely odd. The fact that their sapling was hidden away in the caves indicated that it was significant, but as pointed out – they can’t have been the first couple to share a TLK.  Either that, or the Blue Fairy meant that these saplings are created for everyone at the point that TL first sparks. But then there would be a lot more saplings…

There has to be many saplings all over.  There’s no way that’s the only one.

I’m torn about this, though. On the one hand it would make more sense for saplings to be all over. On the other hand, it kinda diminishes the special nature of Snowing which was something the episode was beating down quite a bit.
