In the episode We Are Both, I didn’t see Belle anywhere. Gold was shoving maps into a bag and getting ready to leave town to go look for Bae, but Belle wasn’t helping him pack or waiting in the car to leave. Is he planning to leave her behind, or take her with him for a “surprise road trip?”
[adrotate group="5"]It’s a damn good question. Just felt a bit lazy of the writers to not even include a line referring to her whereabouts. Just seemed odd considering they are together now, and yet, as you mentioned, he was planning to leave town with maps so that he could look for Bae (talk about a needle in a haystack).
I think she just wasn’t important to the storyline so they left her out. I do wish they had included her, but they’ve only got so much time in each episode. They can’t include everything.
Could she have even just walked out when he started breaking things to see what was going on? He better explain to her at some point about losing Bae and having to find him in this world. I really don’t get how it hasn’t come up – maybe just so the writers can have added tension in their relationship 😡
According to the Once Untold Story App on Facebook, Rumple left Belle a note saying he had business to attend to and left her at his house. So, I just assumed she was at his house. I am glad she wasn’t there because I really don’t want them to travel down the “ross and rachel” path of breaking up every other season. I think if they had tried to explain Bae in that episode it would have been too rushed and I really want them to spend some time on their relationship. If it’s going to become stronger or fall apart, I want to see it in detail.
Jane Espenson tweeted that the trunk Regina touched contained things for Belle. So I guess he was planning on taking her with him. They should have given her a nod in passing, but who would Gold tell? I don’t think Emilie was in Vancouver while it was being filmed.
People are going to be upset, but Belle isn't going to be in next week, either. And I heard she's not in either 5 and/or 6.

Belle doesn’t need to be in every episode. Heck, We Are Both proved that an episode can be amazing even without Snow White and Emma.
I think Belle should be used sparingly. Definitely more than what Red got in season 1, but less than what the major characters get. Maybe use her about as much as they used August last year.
