What does Zelena want?

The scene between Zelena and Rumple in the storm cellar raised the question of what Zelena is after. She was shaving Rumple when she nicked him and drew a drop of his blood. Rumple then asked what exactly Zelena wants. Her reply was,

“What I’m after, Rumple, is something you’ve spent a lifetime seeking. Something that goes against your very nature. Something that I can’t afford to wait that long for.”

What has Rumple spent a lifetime seeking, something that goes against his very nature? Courage. After all, Rumple was the town coward before he used the dagger. Even after he became the dark one, he hid behind his magic. It wasn’t until “The New Neverland” that we saw Rumple do the truly brave thing and sacrifice himself to save his loved ones. Yet, somehow Rumple is alive and now Zelena is taunting him that he remains a coward. What a horrid woman.

So, Zelena used drop of blood from Rumple to open his safe, steal the night root, plant it in David’s tea, and then stole the the heel of David’s sword as a totem of his courage after he’d used it to defeat his deepest fear. I think not just courage but a chance at happiness, a chance at love, a chance to undo what was done. I wonder if Zelena not only wants revenge but she wants to recreate herself as someone loved and accepted. Zelena is about envy. So it makes wonder if Zelena wants to rebirth herself into Snow’s baby for a second chance Or use snow baby’s as the final ingredient since a child represent new life and innocence.

I watched a lot of sci-fantasy, and I’ve seen newborns and pregnancy used as a plot like this before?

That’s creepy Ranisha, but it is quite possible she wants to make herself as powerful as the Dark One without actually having to bear a curse to do it.   She may want all the good qualities and power, beauty, courage, intelligence, just for herself, all the things she was told she lacked growing up with a drunk of a father, envying everyone else.

I like the sound of that. It would certainly fit with her line to Rumple about what he’d wanted for himself.

I think her ultimate endgame is to be Regina but with the volume turned up. So she wants to be the best sorceress ever, queen of her realm (perhaps by taking little baby Snowing and securing her throne), ruler of SB, she’ll want Henry and Robin, and to rob all of Regina’s family of their special traits.

I think Zelena is collecting character traits like courage, compassion, and intelligence not so much for herself but for Snow and David’s unborn baby. Zelena told Rumple she wanted, “Something that I can’t afford to wait that long for.” That makes me think she is in a hurry to collect all of these things before Snow delivers the baby. Then Zelena will kidnap the infant and use the character traits to “bless” the child with gifts, similar to the story of Sleeping Beauty. Perhaps Zelena is barren, and therefore what she really wants is a child to love her, similar to how Regina wants Henry to love her. Why Snow’s baby? Perhaps being a True Love baby means this baby will be powerful like Emma, and what Zelena covets is power too.

Maybe she wants unconditional love from a child, (something Rumple wanted to get back), which is why she wants the baby, so she can raise it herself, and because it will have always known her, and how she looks (assuming she takes the baby somewhere that makes her turn green again), the child wouldn’t judge her. They did make a point of having her say that the whole world could see what was festering beneath the surface because of her appearance.

the original story of rumplestltskin is that he wants the child, the millers daughter gave birth to after she became queen. (this would be Zelena?! That might be the reason she was send to Oz). But Zelena wants Snows child… Maybe one of Rumples prophecies is the reason for this wish that they both had/have. It could have said something about a queens child but not about which one.

maybe Zelena wants the same thing that Jafar wanted: her mother’s love. or revenge on her mother or something so shell get cora back from the dead just to punish her?
